I purchased a refurb around October for a bday present for my son. It came in pretty beat/dirty & was missing the helmet I ordered with it.
CS gave me run around on missing helmet - and a 'too bad, GFY' on the condition of the refurb.

The scooter Itself seems to work fine, but if you look harder at the reviews on 3rd party sites, they seem to break frequently and the 'warranty coverage' doesn't work because they claim they have no parts.

I'd pass - but YMMV

If ur in LA, a guy in Burbank has a Hiboy Max Pro for $375, normally $999 minus $300 coupon (on Amazon). New in box. On FB marketplace, bought one two weeks ago, it's a great scooter. Not sure how many he has left, house pickup, registered on app with no issues.

I received my F30 a couple days ago. It looks new. It performs really well. Cannot tell it's refurbished. I recommend

The Newegg deal was better IMO. I paid like $179 for my ES3+ and it arrived in good condition with ~106 miles on it.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Just hopped in for F30 since D18W has been out of stock for the past week. I think it's a great deal since I'm commuting only 3 miles to work and then back home. Or just for fun.
Here's how to get additional $20 off since welcome-coupons are not accepted for refurbished models:
1. Sign up for Segway account
2. Go to Milage club page (https://store.segway.com/rewards)
3. You should have 600pts on your account available.
Redeem those points for $20 coupon (it's single-use and not linked to your account btw.)
Done. Enjoy

It really depends on what you're looking for. I ordered a D18W the other day. Even knocked off an additional $20 with a WELCOME20 code. I'm replacing a G30LP that I picked up in the previous sale and returned. It cost $330 and seemed like an overkill since I need it to commute to my office that is 1.5 miles away, twice a week. The D18W is an entry level scooter and won't get you too far, but it's a new model, well built, and the few reviews I've read were pretty much positive. From what I understand, you should avoid the E series. It is older, has a bunch of known issues, and is not easy to repair. Everyone's raving about the G series, but the F series here should also be solid choice, and a bit more affordable too.
Wait, I impulse bought a D18W on clearance at my local Walmart last year, and it totally blew away my price to performance expectations for eScooters. I would LOVE to pick up one more for my wife; where did you find it (and use that coupon)?

I ride mine through the park and for modest grocery runs. I can't reach anywhere else without a vehicle that could ride with cars on 35mph roads, so I hear you about overkill!

Battery question: do these scooters use lipo batteries? Any charging fire/safety details to be aware of? I'm asking because I live in the NE and won't be using the scooter for several months. What is the best battery maintenance during the winter- charge indoors hence the fire safety questions or can the scooter be charged/stored in a cold garage? Thanks in advance!

I think these do use lithium polymer batteries, but not LiFePO4 batteries. So, think of them like laptop batteries (or e-bike batteries… or another large battery if you have one).

The usual battery rules apply. Cold weather won't permanently damage your battery or range, but it does drain your charge faster. Extremely warm weather does permanently decrease battery capacity. Best storage conditions are around 50% charge, basement temps are fine. Before your first ride in the spring, refill pneumatic tires to correct pressure… that's about it!

I live in PA, and my Segway is still in my living room, parked on the brick in front of our non-functional fireplace 😂

If you live in NYC apartment, city have banned them to be stored inside apartment because of battery fire hazard.

So we're supposed to park them outside to get stolen? What a joke

Segway had refurbished D18W [segway.com] in stock for quite some time and I ordered one off their website last week. I think they were still available to purchase for $159 when this post came up. I know others said that the code does not apply on refurbished, but for some reason it worked for me. It's great to hear you're enjoying it! Very reassuring. If you're looking for one, I would probably check the website from time to time. I saw multiple refurbished models go out of stock and back in again.

question for the chat
I have ridden bird scooters and lime on many work trips or working downtown to get around
can anyone with the knowledge point me in the right direction to which model is closest or better than the Bird, Lime, etc scooters?
Please and thank you
