I already have the Ridgid hammer drill ... Don't recall the model number but is there any reason to upgrade to this or is this actually a downgrade because it is smaller and weaker?

This one does 500 in lbs of torque (mistakenly thought it was ft/lbs — obviously not) — assume hammer drill may be more — only reason I think would be weight or if your hammer drill doesn't have a way to turn off the hammer function. Also I'd you just want the two extra batteries.

Would be a downgrade but these light duty have their own use.

Note that the included batteries aren't Max Output, but the "free" battery is. It's not a very good price if you keep the MO battery alone. Overall, I think it's a good deal, but I'm passing because all of my tools are Max Output.

So I think getting the impact driver for another $19 or so with the combo deal is a slightly better deal… if you want the impact driver that is.

great deal, was available for at least two month now, deal with drill/impact driver is also available, also at least for two month, pretty sure both were posted. I grabbed drill/impact deal about a month ago.

I bought this drill so my wife would have something smaller to use than the big octane hammer drill.

I have had this drill for about a year now and it has slowly become the drill that I pickup most often. Between this drill and my hydraulic impact I do almost everything.

I do still occasionally pull out the octane 1/2 hammer drill if I am going to be removing a lot of material or if I am drilling into thick steel. I will also use the big hammer drill to feel more masculine after using the tiny subcompact, only to realize that the hammer drill won't fit in certain spaces, and then I have to switch back to the subcompact.

Yes, if you need that -/ but for sub 60 this is the best drill you can get and enters pricing of craftsman and ryobi territory
