For anyone curious about steam deck and offline play

I bought the game yesterday and installed it on my steam deck
I already have a Ubisoft account so I signed in when I ran the game for the first time but I wanted to test offline play.

I disable wifi on the deck and booted the game, it still took me to a Ubisoft login screen, I put in my info and it said "Cannot connect" but then gave me an option to "Go Offline". I selected that and the game booted up just fine.

I also completely shut down the deck and booted it up with Wifi disable just to test if that would work with no cached login, that some games seem to have.

When I launched the game after this, it didn't even bring up the ubisoft login screen and went right into the game. Not sure if this is because I had previously signed in of it it didn't bother once it detects no wifi

Long story short, Offline play works just fine on Steam Deck as long as you have an account and have signed in at least once.

I do NOT know if it works if you don't want to create a Ubisoft account at all so YMMV

I've played about 45 minutes and have it running at 40-45 FPS on mostly medium settings. Looks great on the OLED with HDR!

I own this for the Switch. It is kind of a Zelda BotW but with the story being more satirical or comedic. For $6 definitely give it a try of your backlog is empty. I'm considering buying it at this price to play it on the PC at better resolution and graphics. The Switch version got nerf'd down to be able to run on it.

Single player gameplay requires an active internet connection?!? I'll most likely be connected to the Internet anyway, but it's the principle of the thing. Le pass.

Is it worth going up to the gold edition for an extra $3?

According to How Long to Beat, it's about 25 hours for the DLC.

I've already beaten the game on the PS5, but am going to grab it on Steam just because that's the cheapest way to get the Season pass.

I know this game is supposedly puzzle heavy but does it also have a decent amount of combat? For perspective I personally think Witcher 3 is about perfect; constant combat, bosses don't have annoying mechanics you need to learn / exploit as opposed to actually fighting them, and the puzzles do not require you to remember what some random character said 9 hours before.

I also despise Batman Arkham style combat that is basically a quick time event.

I didn't have to be online while playing the Switch version. Not sure about the Steam version.

Yep, I'd like to play some more Diablo IV(borrowed the ps5 version) but I refuse to pay more than $15-20 bucks for a game that at some point won't be playable because they shut the servers down, or if the internet is down, or whatever. It's ridiculous for single player. But for $6(or maybe $9) I think I'll pick this up and give it a try.

Plenty of combat. There's combat in some of the puzzles. It's actually a really underrated game. I really like it, but I also am into Greek mythology and the comedic style of storytelling. The combat is pretty engaging, it feels a lot like breath of the wild, but I haven't played either in a long time. I just remember having similar combat, stamina bar thingy

Thanks! You convinced me to buy it. Now I just need to finish 3-4 games before I start playing Immortals Fenyx Rising Wink

Don't wait.. start it -- life is short. If it gets boring, then go back to old ones.

Yep same boat. I would normally pass on that kind of anti-consumer practice, but for 6 bucks I'll just try the game and feel dirty.

This game appears to be playable offline.

"can confirm this game is playable offline, though you will need to bind the game to your Steam and Ubisoft accounts online first, by being connected to the internet. Afterward, you can play offline."

https://steamcommunity.com/app/22...130689450/

"Yes, you are required to create a ubisoft account and play the game online. You can play it offline and not create a ubisoft account."

https://www.trueachievements.com/...id=1442636

This is probably like Far Cry 3-5 (can't speak about 6) where the game attempts to connect but works regardless of it the phone home command goes though.
