So I guess that's how Costco and any other US retailers that choose to can still sell them.

It really depends on what you want to accomplish with security cameras.
Costco I really like their return policy
However most of the recent cameras sold in kits to consumers have camera with small sensors and thus do poorly in low light conditions.
One thing you can do with a dahua lorex kit is augment it with better cameras .. reolink has a very limited selection of cameras .. and thus one of the big reasons to avoid a reolink nvr kit.

They keep coming out with new model numbers .. so I do not know now which models are good off the topic of my memory ..
They used to sell 1/1.8" 8MP sensor models .. which imho while not as good as 4MP 1/1.8" were better than their 1/2.8" and 8MP sensor models

Run the math on the equation .. 1 divided by ( divisor number ) .. 1 / 2.8" < 1 / 2.5" < 1/ 1.8" < 1/1.2"
So if you mean that the lower the ( divisor number ) under the 1 = bigger number .. then yes
Example 1 / 2 = 0.5"
1/ 1 = 1"
