"BioWare announced on February 24, 2021, that they were discontinuing any future work on Anthem, though will continue to support the live servers for the immediate future, while the developers on the game would be transitioned to Mass Effect and Dragon Age titles."

The game works perfectly fine, they just aren't providing any more updates.
Oh, I didn't mean the game is perfect. I meant the game can be played just fine regardless of the lack of updates. The first comment made it seem as if it is unplayable, which it definitely isn't.
Stor, characters, etc were quite cringe, but the gameplay was neat.

The BIGGEST issue seems to be that in order to finish the game, the game gives you some "trials" which is just a chore checklist. Find these many treasures, land these many headshots, kill these many enemies, etc. That checklist seems to be the biggest turn off and the point at which most players stop playing entirely.
It is assumed that it was only implemented by the devs to pad out timing on the game and make it seem deeper than it actually is. The biggest compliments i hear is the world looks amazing even for it's age, the suits are fun, and the gunplay feels good.
So if you want something that feels good and looks good, buy it. If you're expecting anything outside of a bit of throwaway fun, don't get it.
My personal note on it is, be aware that the servers will likely go down soon just like Rocket Arena, another online-required live service that was recently announced to die soon due to server disconnection.

Thanks for the info!

The game is largely fun for what it is. Think something like Warframe, but without the grind and upsell pitches of a F2P game. For less than $2 you can't go too wrong. If you play it a single time and it keeps you entertained for 1-2 hours, you've probably gotten your money's worth. It's cheaper than going to a movie, but if you have an Xbox with Game Pass Ultimate it should be part of the EA Play that comes with, so you can save yourself a little money.
I'm brand new but for the price it's very entertaining for me.
