A little pricey for a Case and Coaster...
"BioWare announced on February 24, 2021, that they were discontinuing any future work on Anthem, though will continue to support the live servers for the immediate future, while the developers on the game would be transitioned to Mass Effect and Dragon Age titles."

The game works perfectly fine, they just aren't providing any more updates.

Yes, the game might still be playable, but that might be the first time someone used "perfectly" when addressing Anthem.

Oh, I didn't mean the game is perfect. I meant the game can be played just fine regardless of the lack of updates. The first comment made it seem as if it is unplayable, which it definitely isn't.

Fun for a solid 30 mins. Maybe if you have Friends to play with?

Stor, characters, etc were quite cringe, but the gameplay was neat.

i've watched tons of reviews both recent and of the past, and the most common phrases i hear are "iron man suit" and "boring". To summarize the videos, the combat and movement feels great, but the missions themselves are dull calling for little more than "go here, press button, shoot enemies, go over here, activate this, now shoot enemies, go here, press button, kill enemies, done."

The BIGGEST issue seems to be that in order to finish the game, the game gives you some "trials" which is just a chore checklist. Find these many treasures, land these many headshots, kill these many enemies, etc. That checklist seems to be the biggest turn off and the point at which most players stop playing entirely.

It is assumed that it was only implemented by the devs to pad out timing on the game and make it seem deeper than it actually is. The biggest compliments i hear is the world looks amazing even for it's age, the suits are fun, and the gunplay feels good.

So if you want something that feels good and looks good, buy it. If you're expecting anything outside of a bit of throwaway fun, don't get it.

My personal note on it is, be aware that the servers will likely go down soon just like Rocket Arena, another online-required live service that was recently announced to die soon due to server disconnection.

That's pretty fair. The other thing is some of the optional missions you can do feel like they were supposed to be part of the campaign, but for whatever reason they just decided to cut them and turn them into these repeatable missions. When the actual campaign ends, it feels like the game is just starting to get rolling, and it should just be the end of Act 1.

The game is largely fun for what it is. Think something like Warframe, but without the grind and upsell pitches of a F2P game. For less than $2 you can't go too wrong. If you play it a single time and it keeps you entertained for 1-2 hours, you've probably gotten your money's worth. It's cheaper than going to a movie, but if you have an Xbox with Game Pass Ultimate it should be part of the EA Play that comes with, so you can save yourself a little money.

I bought this and a bunch of others (inc. Burnout Paradise) to play in single player mode and at this price, it's well worth it.

I bought the game. Never played it or really knew anything about it... but it's free on my xbox gamepass so I hit it up. Holy crap as a "blind brand new player" I loved it. Fun to fly, open world (if you want), great types of weapons to tinker with, cool abilities, looks great, shooting feels clean and just right for me.

I'm brand new but for the price it's very entertaining for me.
