I'd wait for a better deal since the 2024 models just announced today. They're pretty much a downgrade though over the 2022/2023 models.

That's a fairly uninformed and misguided take. The 2023 model will live alongside the 2024 model and not replace it according to the several reviews I have watched. If you want a 4090 (or a 4080) in a small chassis, then you will still be able to get the 2023 model. The 4080 and 4090 will be available in the 2024 G16 too.

The 2024 G14 "only" goes up to a 4070 given the changes they made to the chassis and many will consider it a big upgrade given it has an OLED screen with G-Sync, and it's thinner/more premium, has quieter fans, and 2 additional speakers (6 in total) which increases the volume significantly. The only downgrade that I can see is the non-upgradeable memory. But that was a compromise they needed to make given how thin it is. It went from 0.73" ~ 0.77" to 0.63" ~ 0.64".

Not misinformed. They're keeping the 4090 version around because they have a pretty large stockpile of them, they didn't sell well but no surprise there, they were expensive. The g14 was really only selling well when it went on sale.
They didn't need to make it thinner. That's the excuse they want you to buy into so they can start going down the apple path of charging up front for memory and pushing everyone to the higher configs.
Not to mention them moving to a proprietary charging cable and no support for full speed usbc charging. This is just a bad model year, it's okay. I don't know why some people are defending ASUS so much.

I am so sorry you aren't excited about the changes they made. For me, I am excited because it fixes a ton of "issues" I have with my 6700S. I wanted all those changes, but one of the most important was better port placement. That bugs me a lot currently and they finally fixed it.
