For anyone looking to grab some shoes for your kid: I just bought my 5 year old a few pairs (he currently wears a size 10 that I bought almost two years ago) and all three were a whole size up -11.5. They fit very narrow still and he complained the entire time about how tight they are and it doesn't feel comfortable for him. I buy him the old skool.
This also happened with a pair of vans (size 11) during Nordstrom's summer annual sale. He tried them on a month ago and we couldn't even get his feet in.
I don't know what has changed because I have always bought from either Nordstrom or Vans directly. But just for any parents to be aware to avoid headaches. I'm struggling to find shoes for him that aren't Nike or Adidas. Target's Cat & Jack are also apparently tight on him.
As for me, I get a whole size up because I know they run small or narrow.

Try Asics or New Balance. I think even Adidas come in wides now. I know they're not what most of the kids are wearing but there's not a lot of options for wides.

In terms of size, vans mens clothing seems to run big.
