This is such an asinine comment. All sardines don't come from the same place. They definitely inhabit various waters. Primarily two things effect taste of canned fish; the waters from where they are caught(which influences what they eat and what pollution they are exposed to) , and the cleaning and canning process itself.

To think just because sardines comes from sea water, they must all taste the same is literally the dumbest thing I've read all week.

Costco has their Season brand sardines for 10.99 this month. 6 count 4.375 oz can. While not as good of a deal, the quality is much better. Sardines and saltines, yummo!

$8.99 after max S&S. 75ยข per can is the cheapest I've seen sardines. The price can't be beaten, but I find the dollar sardines all about the same, just OK quality, and a little mushy. I'm going to try refrigerating them to see if that helps. They're no King Oscar, but if you like sardines they're good. Strangely, the Omega 3s are supposed to be higher with Sardines in water than packed in oil.

Speaking from experience, pay more for better quality. Cheap is only good if you use the product, otherwise you're just throwing away money.

I tried these last time they were on slickdeals, and definitely not my cup of tea for fish. These area bit too slimy and super mushy, and I couldn't get over that.

Adding packaging says sprats, which Google says sprats are morphology and their phylogenetic family to sardines.

When they catch/kill the sardines... how do they know which ones are better quality? Like which bees make better honey from within the bee hive?

If you are buying canned sardines or tuna, buy the one in oil. Water tends to leave that fishy smell intact.
