I signed up for a black friday deal for peacock only to find out they now lock The Office (and tons of other content) behind a higher "tier". To heck with those shenanigans.
Hard pass on any streaming service that has ads, regardless of the price. Shoot, even their top tier still has ads.
Welp, time to buy a couple of hard drives and learn how to torrent then.

I was ok paying $15-20 a month but with all this splintering of content, BS changes (the HBO merger and downgrade to reality shows because of the new CEO), and ads on top of premium membership.?

Y'all did this to yourselves, streaming services

I did this a few days ago and upgraded to the top tier. Also had two Amex Offers on the same card: one for (I think) $5.99 back on $5.99, and another for $20 back on $49.99. Both seem to have triggered.

I have chase but don't need/use instacart. If I read it correctly I can get Instacart+ for 19$ and get peacock with it? I just use it for EPL so it will be worth 20$ for one season !
That's correct. Here are the full benefits https://www.instacart.com/instacart-plus

The Chase offer brings the normal $35/yr to $19/yr among other little perks if your card qualifies.

Peacock Premium is free for most Xfinity customers, even internet-only accounts. It's either bundled with your TV plan (you can just log in with your xfinity account credentials) or there's an offer in Xfinity Rewards you can activate to tie it to a personal account.
I thought xfinity discontinued that last year

This used to be free through crapcast/xfinity but they don't do that anymore.

Anyway if you use Instacart and a Chase card I'd suggest going through the Instacart+ route as you get Peacock bundled + a lot of benefits and if you qualify you can even get the entire thing for $19/year - https://slickdeals.net/f/17087662-ymmv-1-year-of-instacart-for-19
Mine is still free?

You definitely didn't sign up then. Everything is unlocked AFTER you pay for any sort of plan, they have premium plan with ads & premium Plus without ads.

Now there is a secret free-mium plan, but I think it requires you to have an account from before & after paid subscription expired you got downgraded to free plan with almost zero unlocked content (outside first episode and some foreign movies).

The only thing you can't do different from the two premium plans, download offline content. Now that's absolutely normal, after all they can't give you ads offline. The same goes for Paramount+, Hulu, Netflix etc.

THIS is interesting. Is there a specific blocklist needed? I run a pihole but get ads with Hulu/Disney/Freevee/etc.

Also, is that true for TV or watching through a laptop/tablet?
I have no success with Hulu/disney/freevee however, peacock and paramount + work just fine.

At times (every 3 weeks) paramount + keeps loading with black screen, at that time, I disable pihole for 30 secs. And when it loads up to play an ad, I just restart the app and I am good for the next few weeks

With my Windscribe VPN account all ads are automatically skipped and it immediately returns to the show. Obviously this isn't the case for live programming, where it plays the "hold" music instead of ads until the program returns. I'm not sure how this would work for other VPN services but it's worth checking out if ads annoy you.

Having said that, I paid $20 for the year on Black Friday but this still works out to a decent cost per month if you really need Peacock.

The code works for "Premium Plus" but discount remains only $29.99 (half of the $59.99 premium annual cost)

Invoice breaks down to this:
Premium Annual $59.99/year (ORIGINAL PREMIUM ANNUAL RATE)
1 Year of Peacock Premium for $29.99 (NEW DISCOUNTED ANNUAL PRICE)
Plus Option Annual $60.00/year (ADD ON COST TO UPGRADE TO PREMIUM PLUS)
Today's Total $89.99 (+tax) (NEW TOTAL FOR PREMIUM PLUS ANNUAL, YEAR ONE)
Then, $119.99/year (+tax) (PREMIUM PLUS ANNUAL RENEWAL RATE, YEAR 2+)
Correct and if we take in to consideration the AMEX offer

1 Year of Peacock Premium for $29.99
Plus Option Annual $60.00/year
Today's Total $89.99 (+tax)

AMEX offer targetted: Get a one-time $20 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single annual subscription purchase of $59.99 or more online at peacocktv.com by 1/31/2024.

So $69.99 for premium plus (no ads) still seems pricey. Any CB to ice it?

Just as reminder the Instacart one is with Ads and can not be changed or upgrade to ad free. I setup a separate account used AMEX offers to avoid ads with the premium plus.

Peacock is probably the worst of the mainline streaming services, it's just not worth it. I'm not counting Max because that's run by idiots but still better than Peacock. Even Apple TV+ is better, about the same amount of shows and better quality programming and no ads. [Ads don't normally bother me, but no ads is clearly better.]

Plus as others have pointed out there are weird levels and you sign up wanting to watch one thing and it's locked behind a paywall. Peacock doesn't even have the 2004 BSG. It was removed in July 2023 and didn't even move anywhere else.

Just do a free trial and watch 'Mrs. Davis', the best show / miniseries of 2023 and ignore this useless POS of a streaming thing.
It's all opinions. Peacock is pretty good for reduced cost. $20 or $30 per year is good deal.

If you look at other services, provided they stop offering free trial workarounds, I'd never subscribe to them. Apple+ is $10/month now, Paramount+ is $11.99 without ads and again not worth it. The very limited exclusive shows means if you have Netflix or combo of other services, you probably have access to bulk of Paramount+ library.

Netflix is getting too expensive, but they always have something new to watch.

Max? Regular price expensive, but it might be worth it for some. Recent black friday deal of $2.99/mo for 6 months with ads? Great deal. Max has the least amount of ads for shows, but movies have ads spread out which is upsetting.

My in-laws still log in through their TV subscription and I just activated the Rewards offer on my account last month so we could watch the Monk movie. Shows as "billed through Xfinity" (see attached)

Got the following email back in July, which is what I redeemed in December (Subject: You can now redeem Peacock Premium with Xfinity Rewards)

Enjoy Peacock Premium at no extra cost with Xfinity Rewards

As a special perk of being an Xfinity Internet customer and Diamond or Platinum member of Xfinity Rewards, you can now get Peacock Premium by signing into your account and redeeming your reward.

Once you've redeemed Peacock Premium, activate your plan by following the steps below. If you already have a paid Peacock plan, cancel it first.

1.
Sign into Xfinity Assistant and click Activate Now. This will redirect you to Peacock's website.
2.
If you've used Peacock before, enter the same email address and password. If not, sign up with your email address.
3.
Click the Log In button and follow the prompts to finish activating your plan.

With Peacock Premium (currently $5.99/mo value), you can stream hit movies, live sports — like MLB Sunday Leadoff and Sunday Night Football — exclusive Originals, and so much more.

You'll have access to Peacock Premium at no extra cost for as long as you're subscribed to Xfinity Internet and enrolled in Xfinity Rewards as a Diamond or Platinum member.

Thank you for being an Xfinity customer.

This is inaccurate. You get everything with the Premium plan ($20 BF and this $30 deal) except offline downloads, your live NBC local station and ad free. You have to get the Premium Plus plan for those benefits. That ad free disclaimer is monster due to live sports showing ads during breaks, which is expected. Honestly peacock Premium isn't bad with movies. They front load all the ads and the movie is ad free.

The free version that no longer exists except for people that already had it before was the only tier that ever had episodes or movies locked.

What about Yellowstone? Is it on the cheaper or premium?
It's on both premium and premium plus except the cheaper will have ads. Their comment was inaccurate about stuff not being on the lower tier. That was when they had the "free" offering.
