Dietary cholesterol has little to no affect your blood cholesterol. Most of the cholesterol in your body, is made in your body. Cholesterol is essential for your body to function properly.

This one tastes so awful I mix it half and half with Dymatize or ON to be able to finish the bag.
It's not as good as ON or Dymatize.. But come on.. It's a protein shake. Down it in a few seconds and you're done. Taste is decent.

More than a bit deceptive on "No artificial ingredients" - in contains Stevia, that is not natural. I wish I could find a protein powder without sucralose, Stevia or any other artificlal sweetener
Stevia is considered a natural sweetener.

This was never on a 97 deal. They've had this exact deal a few times past couple years.
You are correct I just looked and it was a protein recovery blend from ascent

You can buy just plain protein powder like the one bulk supplements sells and just dump in "natural" sugar if that's what you wanted
Thank you... may go that route definitely don't want Sucralose, Stevia, or any other fake sugars

Isn't Stevia a natural plant extract?
yes but what is extrated, how is it extracted, and even more important to me is what does it do in and to the body... that has not yet been proven. I do not trust it

Just an FYI, if you are worried about cholesterol, I'd worry more about drinking coffee than your cholesterol consumption.

Coffee contains cafestrol, the most potent chemical we have found at increasing blood cholesterol levels. It is removed by paper filters, but if you use a mesh filter/french press/etc, expect your cholesterol levels to surge by A LOT. (The current theory is that it inhibits bile production, but they aren't 100% sure). They discovered this in the 1990s, but no one seemed to care because nearly all coffee consumed in the 1990s was paper filtered.
Wow…I do use a French press for coffee. So maybe I need a coffee maker or something with paper filters now

You can just do a pour over with a paper filter.
That is probably the cheapest/easiest way. But give it a trial for a month and see if your cholesterol goes down. It worked wonders for me

As an aside, the level of cholesterol isn't actually what causes problems anyway. It is just a proxy measurement.

I haven't spoken to my doctor about it yet, but if i am understanding it I could still drink the coffee I want and have higher cholesterol and it wouldn't cause any real problems.

Good deal but (not taste comparison) which is better this or ON whey protein currently on sale at Costco too?
It depends by what you mean by "better".

Cost per lb - ON
Clean ingredients - Ascent
Taste - ON

I bought this the last time it was on sale and it tastes horrible to me. I ended up giving it away to someone, who then told me it tastes horrible after they tried it.

https://peterattiamd.com/donlayman/ is an interesting podcast interview with expert on quality of protein and importance of timing and the minimum amount of protein in a meal you should have to activate the mTor pathway to build muscle. Especially important if you're older as it's increasingly difficult to maintain lean body mass. My understanding after listening is to have most of your day's protein split between 2 meals to activate mTor pathway with each meal having at least 30g of protein, rather than splitting your protein intake equally across several meals. Thought I'd post this info for those who may be interested to investigate this, because I've been doing it all wrong if this is info is true, and maybe it will benefit others to get the most out of their protein choice.

I usually partake in the Optimum Nutrition deals, and for context I love their Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream flavors. Yesterday I was at Costco and decided to pick this Ascent protein since it was also on sale and has less additives and fillers than the ON proteins. After trying it with milk, I'd say I'm totally fine with the flavor of this protein. ON tastes better for sure, but I still enjoy the taste of Ascent and am much more happy with its ingredient list as well.

ON is generally regarded as top of the line. It mixes better than the Ascent, and tastes much, much better. I bought the Ascent the first time it was on sale. Never again.

Taste is subjective, but the Ascent definitely has no issues mixing - I just use water most of the time.
