I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

Can you do either a wash or a dry by itself without the other? I know what you're thinking. Why would you? Well, some clothes are washed but air dried. Or you are soaking wet from rain and you wanna dry your hoodie.
you can, the dryer cycle does use water, so ultimately the hoodie would be dry

Get the GE Profile All-in-One. It takes 1h45m-2hrs typically for wash+dry.
I've had three various LG all-in-one washers (small and large) and latest is GE Profile. The LG's ranged from 3.5hrs-6hrs for wash+dry. I primarily use my GE washer and not my other two LG's. Other issues i've had with LG: the older LG's pump consistently failed; the newer LG seems to eat up small socks and would require you to drain to open the filter located on the bottom. The GE's filter is on top which you can clean without draining the water.

The GE was around $2k when I purchased from Costco a few months ago.

EDIT: If you plan on installing the units upstairs, the GE is extremely heavy ~300lbs. The LG's were about half the weight ~160lbs. Generally all-in-one's are much heavier than conventional units but the GE is very heavy.
the new LG pumps are SO much better, it's not even close. The old ones were a wear item, the new ones are pretty resilient. I havent had the issue with my new LG eating socks, but we also use a garment bag for smaller ones.

I considered the GE one, but because it's so new and compressor based, I opted for the LG unit (and also the weight was a reason)

pretty sure this technology isn't available 12 years ago. you might just have the old heat coil technology.
you're right. The one 12 years ago was older tech, and the new one I have doesnt have a heat pump either, I didnt catch that it's the heat pump unit

How do you deal with lints? I regularly clean my dryer filter and remove tons of them. Do they stay on the clothes with this machine?
lint is supposed to be flushed out with the water into the drain, however, some will stay in the gasket - so it needs to be wiped off after the dry cycle and some of it will be in the filter on the bottom - that needs to be cleaned every few weeks (or every few months if you dont use the unit that often / dry non linty stuff)

Even better, for the same price just get four washers and four dryers! Then you're basically failure-proof!
Yours is not really doable and much more expensive(if trying to run ALL at once)EEK!
1. Need to upgrade electric service.
2. need to add 2-3 additional water supply lines and drains
3. need to provide 3 additional ducts for outdoor venting.
4. NEED EXTRA SPACE
5. Good luck trying to run all 4 in conditioned space. AC/Heat would not be able to keep up.

Inflation Reduction Act rebates are not available in my state yet. I'm waiting on that before I do anything.

Due to my crappy LG TV, and old phone they quit supporting, LG is never an option. Also the fact that modern washers are built to fail.

Ohio doesn't appear to offer a single rebate

Most repair folks tell you to avoid a combo washer/dryer unit.
To me the biggest thing is not being able to parallelize loads even this is a good unit.

what's the benefits from buying at costco over hd, bestbuy, etc?
Costco delivers, installs, includes needed hoses/connection parts, etc and hauls away the old for the purchase price

How long until this would be the norm? One less appliance but if it breaks then you got nothing lol
So you'd rather have two machines with double the chances of something breaking. Are you going to really handwash your clothes and use your dryer if the washer breaks?

Finally the koreans made exact competitor to the GE Ultrafast. Competition is good, should drive down prices of 120v/heatpump/ventless all-in-ones.
