I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

You absolutely can. I had to close up my vent egress when I switched from a traditional washer dryer to the GE Profile All in One. The machine actually blows cool air into the basement. Another big benefit is that a traditional dryer pulls in air, which your HVAC has just conditioned, heats it up and blows it out the vent. This means that outside air is pulled into the house and your HVAC has to condition that new outside air (at your expense). This machine just circulates the same air in the house, like your fridge, so it helps with HVAC bills.
But in the winter isn't it dumping cool air into the house? Thus making your heating bill go up?

Is there a way to use the existing dryer vent to pull in warm air from the outside as the heat pumps heat source?

Speed doesn't matter. You can put your clothes in right before you go to bed or go to work, and then you can take them out whenever convenient. What matters more is having the convenience to be able to start on a load of laundry right before going to work or going to bed, which a traditional setup doesn't allow you to do because then your clothes smell if you leave it wet overnight.
It matters to people like me who dry their shirts and pants on low, then hang to dry. Different strokes for different folks. Cool design though.

Lol. Can't believe I didn't read about that earlier. And I'm old enough to have a yahoo account I use occasionally. Time to start checking the CC and CB rebates

Can you have a washer and this unit work concurrently? I have a dryer I want to replace but my current washer is new and I wouldn't mind having that be a machine for for washing clothes that don't need to dry running concurrently

small price to pay for not having to spend the time switching over laundry or forgetting to switch it over and having to restart. Or being able to start at night and have it done in the morning. Plus not having to deal with having vents cleaned. I've got the older model and it's awesome.
+1, clothes smell if I forget and then my wife tells me to wash it all over again

Ah Thanks for the tip. Worked for me too. One of my old work emails qualified, but I don't have access to it any more.

+1 mold and mildew on the gasket, on the GE tear down review videos I've been watching, the repairman said one benefit in combo is that the dryer gets rid of the dampness and prevents the mildew issue and smells.

Now still trying to decide this one or keep waiting on Costco for $1700 again for the longer warranty.

Lol... I have the cabrio too... I recently took a day out and took it apart, cleaned it, and replaced some parts including the pump... If I had to do it over, I would have bought this unit.
My cabrio set was 8 years old, it just started squeaking on spin cycle so tossed on curb was gone hour later lol

Wasn't messing with it. Lg front load is so much nicer honestly

Wow thanks! Any suggestions on how to combine this with a cashback website? I want to use capital one shopping since they are offering 8% through the app. I only see 1% when I go through my desktop browser.

Also for those looking for extended warranty I see Upsie offers a $3/month plan which seems fantastic for the price.

So ready to pull the trigger on this unit.
Been waiting forever for the GE to drop back to the $1700 price until this came along.
The GE is a much better looking unit. Sleek and futuristic.
Unfortunately OOS in my Florida area.

I see shipping and installation are free but there's no haul away right? If so how is everyone getting rid of their old machines?

Got it thanks. Do you know of the rough cost of hauling away a stacked & bolted washer and dryer or does it vary by region or circumstances?
