Deluxe+State not including e-file for that state is such a scam move intending to deceive anyone not paying attention.

Now that Intuit is requiring people to register the software to an account beginning this filing year, I'll be moving over to this software. Intuit has gone full on EVIL although they were pretty evil even before this. They want to know everything about a person and they reserve the right to sell the information... thus making them a powerful data broker. No thanks Intuit!

Wait till end of tax season and buy from eBay. It's much cheaper when reseller try to unload before it become useless
I used to do this, but there's value in getting it done as soon as the relevant forms/information are available. If you get a refund, then you get the refund sooner. If you owe, then you can pay it sooner before additional penalties. With simple taxes, (e.g. just a W-2), you don't need to pay for software anyway. With complex taxes (e.g. premium & business), you're way more likely to have your estimate be off and want to have it fixed early.

Who on eBay will be selling? Newegg or someone else?
Why would anyone wait until the end of tax season to do their taxes? That is sheer stupidity.

I'm a massive procrastinator with doing something I hate: taxes.

The recent Newegg deal with the $20 gift card was better (though I passed on it).

Been using this for the past three years. I cringe seeing all these posts about paying for online tax software.
Some people require more than the basic stuff

How is that stupidity? Not everyone gets a refund or needs the refund that they have to file right out of the gate. Further, tax rules get updated throughout the tax season, so filing early might require one to amend their return.

If your situation is simple, this probably works. I couldn't get free tax USA to work for me, but this was years ago. It wasn't any better than doing taxes by hand on paper. Maybe it's better now.

Last year I got premium for $28. This has inflated the most compared to others .. deluxe etc
Yes looking at history I've ways gotten premium for $29.99. this year it's $5 more. Wonder if there will be another sale or does newegg offer price protection?

I know I could get it for free but doing ride share it feels safer and easier with Deluxe. $20 and my info is imported from last year and I never had issues with HRB. Now paying $40? At that point I'd be looking at the free option.

Two things are like clockwork with Slickdeals and me:
1) Bi-annual purchase of Mobil1 Full Synthetic when a SD'er reminds me it's rebate time;
2) January or February purchase of tax software when some other SD'er points out a good deal on Newegg. Thank you shady_as-J and thank you Slickdeals.

We won't talk about the many hundreds of $ I also spend annually on other great deals this community alerts me to! Applause

recommendations on which version to buy?

I have a w-2 job, kids, a mortgage and a side hustle selling items on amazon (less than 20k in sales volume so I won't get a 1099k)

You will cringe much more when you see people going to a tax office paying hundreds of $, while they watch the employee fill up the same tax software.

Need premium. Is the consensus this is the best deal we'll be seeing? Would like to have the software locked up before end of January which is when all my tax forms tend to come in.

I've been aware of this every year and I think it's such a joke. You have to do print it out and send it in, but I never do. What's the way around this? Are you saying you might as well get the version without state?
