Deluxe+State not including e-file for that state is such a scam move intending to deceive anyone not paying attention.

Now that Intuit is requiring people to register the software to an account beginning this filing year, I'll be moving over to this software. Intuit has gone full on EVIL although they were pretty evil even before this. They want to know everything about a person and they reserve the right to sell the information... thus making them a powerful data broker. No thanks Intuit!

If something is free then YOU are typically the product.
They make their money off state e-file fees, upgrades to deluxe support, and a few other things. They spell it out on their site.

I'm going to Mexico later this month. Does anyone know if I can use FreeTaxUSA, CashApp, and/or H&R Block software while in Mexico? I earned all my money in the USA in 2023 and have lived in the USA the entire year so I won't be paying taxes for multiple places or anything like that. Thanks!
I don't see why not. Worst case scenario, use a VPN. Or just wait till you get back.

Can these codes be used for the H&R Block app on iOS or is it only for PC use? Thanks!

If you have been a TurboTax (TT) user you will hate this. Tried to save money last year buying the business for $40 and still had to buy TT Business because Block is difficult. They make you do the work, while TT asks questions and does the work for you. Just my humble opinion.

I disagree in general. I switched a couple years ago and my experience is that they both guide you similarly, but TurboTax is *slightly* better in this regard. Block does look like Win95 software though LMAO

PC only. The phone apps are essentially just the web version app-ified.

Use Freetaxusa it's FREE and will do what you need it to do.

It also allows you to fill out a sch C if you need to for your side hustle. I haven't paid for tax service for years and still file a sch C. I have used Quicken previously to keep track of income and expenses. Reluctant to use them because of them changing to annual fee BS.
cool thanks. I signed up for an accountant QuickBooks account and that seems to be free to use for my "accounting practice"

Some people require more than the basic stuff
The free software is just as capable as the paid versions, assuming you are capable of compiling your own documents and not needing your hand held the entire time.

Why stop at the free software, why dont you manually calculate your taxes, since you don't need anyone to hold your hand when doing taxes? Business owners require more, especially when they have payroll or contractors. If you are too lazy to manually fill and calculate your tax forms, you have no business judging others for requiring more. You're not better for going the free route, you just have simpler tax filing needs, aka probably single, no property, investments or the like. CPAs use tax software guy, get off your high horse.
