PSA: Jack stand ratings are for the pair, not per jack stand. Many years ago when I first starting tinkering with my cars, I was unclear about this, so if anybody is in the same boat I was, I hope this clears it up. Also, always check to make sure they'll get the height you need. 2T stands typically don't go very high.

If you're asking that question, I'm not sure you should do an oil change by yourself. 😂

Project Farm reviewed the 3 ton model, they were consistently middle of the pack. Final place was 4th out of 11, but they are one of the best budget options being the cheapest of the top 4.

Needed a spare pair to keep the car in the air way up there.

Thanks, OP.

This should be good for most cars and small SUVs. If you have a large SUV or full size truck I would check the weight and height.

edit: if you have hybrid or electric check the weight because of three batteries those are usually much heavier

Personally I rock 2 Jack stands and leave the jack in place, but I lower onto the jack stands and then raise the jack back up till it's touching the car.

You only need 4 Jack stands if the whole car is coming off the ground, for like a major brake job or transmission swap.

For an oil change use ramps

No.

I've done oil changes, brake jobs, transmission swaps, etc all with two jacks and a floor jack.

But if you've got a FWD, likely a pair of ramps will be cheaper and SAFER if you have any doubt. Especially if working on an uneven or non-concrete surface. Ramps are super safe.

Are you one of those people who thinks you're supporting the entire weight of the car just by lifting up the front? I think you might want to go take a beginner physics class. Not to mention that's a heavy-ass bike, since most cars are in the 3,000-3,500lbs range and the average smaller bikes are 300-500lbs with even big bikes like a Harley only being 700-900lbs. Your comment is all kinds of silly. I'm not sure you know how much a ton is.
