Serious question: how is 2 years running a smoke detector a bad thing? I don't think I've ever had a smoke detector battery last longer than that. Energizer, Duracell, Rayovac, I've probably tried them all.

Sounds like some "confusion" in regards to shelf life and installed in device life.

That's not good considering I just changed an Amazon basic alkaline 9v in a smoke detector with a date of 9-22-2021!

These are lithium batteries, not alkaline, so they should last longer. But how much longer,and how long should they be used in smoke alarms? Detectors with built in lithium batteries are rated at 10 years.
