I bought 5 of the amazon basics 9v lithiums for my alarms 2 years ago, 2 only remain good. The other 3 started chirping starting with the first in early summer.
Every batch of Amazon basics batteries. Bought AAA with extreme fail rates and years later AA that were larger than spec thereby unable to be used in pretty standard scenarios (eg, remote controls). Avoid Amazon batteries.
Serious question: how is 2 years running a smoke detector a bad thing? I don't think I've ever had a smoke detector battery last longer than that. Energizer, Duracell, Rayovac, I've probably tried them all.

Sounds like some "confusion" in regards to shelf life and installed in device life.
These are lithium batteries, not alkaline, so they should last longer. But how much longer, and how long should they be used in smoke alarms? Detectors with built in lithium batteries are rated at 10 years.
