Except YOU'RE the one who brought up how people can legally change their name in the real world. But, even in the real world, you cannot simply decide that your last name will be X. You have to actually go through the legal process. Which is why I made the joke about Rey going to the First Order to change her name.
And the issue isn't whether she would need someone's permission to become a Skywalker (and who would she even ask, since by then all the actual Skywalkers have been killed off). The issue is that she has no real connection to the Skywalkers. There's one year between the time she meets Leia in TFA and Leia's death. She spent even less time with Luke. So what gives her the right to claim the name Skywalker? Just because they trained her? Jedi have been training Padawans for generations. That's nothing special. It was a ham-fisted and forced attempt at passing the torch and it failed completely.
I know of a couple sub-reddits where you two would fit right in.

I cited legally changing the name as an example that it can be done (responding to your earlier argument), not as the only way it can be done. If you go back in history, there are examples of people who simply chose to go by a new name in a new town. It's harder to do in modern times because of better record keeping, but it is still done.
The issue is that you don't like the story and are disrespecting her choice as a result.
Sorry, but you don't just get to appropriate someone else's name and legacy like that.
In addition, they made a big deal of Leia telling Rey to "never be afraid of who you are" in the last movie. It was the last conversation the two had and it was supposed to be a big emotional moment. So what does Rey do the first chance she gets? She tries to discard who she is, and her family legacy in favor of the "cool" family.
Tell that to the producers, director, and actors in Netflix's Cleopatra
And Anne Boleyn. 😂

No, the issue is that you're willfully ignoring legitimate issues with the writing of this trilogy because all you care about is defending a terribly written character. Your reason for doing so is anyone's guess.

Lol. I'm not defending the writing. If you look back, I didn't respond to any of your criticisms of the movie. I agree it was a shit ending. Your original comment said "This is so insulting to Rey. There was a whole trilogy about her, but all anyone ever wants to talk about are the Skywalkers." I know that was meant as a joke and my initial response pointing out that you were disrespecting her choice to be a Skywalker was also meant in jest. And then you got super defensive that a person can't change their name. So I had fun responding. Anyway, I have to thank you for the conversation. It was a fun distraction.

Lame.
Now we are talking. Preach on.

Played through 4-5 of the episodes over the holidays on my Xbox.
It's certainly dumb fun and good comedic relief.
That said, it's certainly not a GOTY type game and more of something you'd play between waiting on something you really want to play.
The markup for the PS5 is high and I'd rather get the clearance copy TBH
