Spent $700-750 a year ago directly from Chargepoint on Amazon. 7 months later the wifi card goes bad and it doesn't connect so they mail me a replacement. Definitely feeling a bit burned at the price drop and quality issues so far. If I want to upgrade the cable to NACS (the upcoming standard in the US) it'll cost me $150-200 last I read as well.

My CP charger errors out a lot when i plug in for charging. Sometimes i have to pull out and insert 10 times or more and still doesn't wrk. Anyone else experience the same, and found any solution?
This happened to mine after 5 years and shortly thereafter it failed and i had to replace it. I read somewhere that a relay fails. Unfortunately there's no repair option just replacement.

I've had the Chargepoint Flex for almost 3 years now. Its great, my only beef is I wish the charging cord was a bit longer. I charge my Ioniq 5 and my Ford Escape PHEV. I didn't hardwire, but its plugged into a new Outlet I had installed with a 50 amp breaker.

I paid almost $650 for it so this price is great.

I have the charge point hardwired level 2. Paid for install by Chevy qmerit. No complaints. It is excellent. Level 2 at home is a MUST if you are thinking about getting an EV. Just pay for a professional to hardwire it. No need to burn your house down or electrocute yourself.

Agree about the cord that is my only complaint. I probably would have mounted it in a slightly different location in hindsight. Just roll the cord out and plug it into your car before you install make sure it's in an ideal spot. It's a beefy cord though

Mine is problem-free so far (knock on wood) after nearly two years of ownership; currently a renter so I didn't hardwire mine. The latest/current version of the ChargePoint app now allows you to adjust the charge current limit in 1-amp increments from 8A to the maximum rated charger output or 80% of the breaker amperage--e.g., in my case mine is from 8A to 40A since my charger is plugged into a NEMA 14-50 wired to a 50A breaker; it used to be that the previous few versions of the app were such that the only way you could adjust the charger output was to redo the charger configuration as a new setup, and even then you could only select 50A/40A/32A (depending on your breaker rating of course).

Note--if you don't "activate" your ChargePoint (i.e., go through the setup procedure) the charge speed will default to 16A out of the box.

Note #2--if you need to reconfigure your ChargePoint because your breaker output has changed (e.g., going from 50A breaker to 60A breaker) but don't want to deal with having to set your charger up as a new device again in order to do that, then I suggest using the ChargePoint Installer app (not to be confused with the regular ChargePoint app) to do so since using that won't (or, shouldn't) blow away any custom schedules you may have put in place.

I have only Tesla cars and a chargepoint hardwired. my local utility company covered half of the charger cost so i got chaegepoint instead of tesla charger (tesla charger was not on rebate list). except the minor inconvenience of needing to use a adapter, chargepoint has been great.
Chargepoint already sells a NACS cable conversion kit for 200 bucks, and its back ordered.(for hardwired CPH50 though)

I wish ohio had more EV incentives at all.. All wek get is "Oh by the way, your license plates are an extra $200 per year now"

If you want a seamless Tesla experience with your new car, get the Tesla wall charger. It integrates with the Tesla app very well and just works. No adapters, and you can open the charging port door with the handle of the charger itself. To me, to save a few hundred dollars and have to mess with adapters and have multiple apps/accounts - just not worth it.

I had them put in a simple 14-50 outlet for the Porsche Taycan. I just use the mobile charger once a month that pumps out 40amps in the settings.

So far, flawless performance. My first month tried a dryer splitter, obviously you just don't run both. That worked good too, just slower at 20amps. It was mostly curiosity.

I hired legit licensed company to install the plug in version, drama free for 3 years and the socket melt all of a sudden, luckily I was at home and smelled it otherwise the whole house would have burned down.

I asked the company stripped everything and hardwired the wall connector instead.
You have to install a industrial outlet bryant or hubbel outlet

This or the Tesla charger for $475? I have a Tesla and a Volt, so I have both adapters.
I have a Tesla and I went with this ChargePoint because the Tesla charger was not eligible for the Xcel rebates. Both the installation rebate and a yearly discount. So check what rebates and discounts are available from your provider and in your state before you make your decision.
The ChargePoint requires you to use the converter to plug into a Tesla. And it doesn't have a button to open the charge flap. But most of the time you can just push the flap to open it. Or use your phone.
To summarize, in my state for Xcel you can save $500 up front and I think it was $50 a year to use this charger. But you lose a little convenience.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I bought one of these earlier this fall for around $450 so this is a great price. I installed this as a hardwired setup at my son's house. It's on a 50A service and works great operating at a 40A charge rate. There's an additional benefit for hardwiring the Chargepoint. Doing so will usually allow a much cheaper standard breaker to be used. If you're going to install it with a NEMA plug then a GFCI breaker will be required by many municipalities. The GFCI breaker was a lot more expensive for my son's electrical panel, it was about $200 for the 50A GFCI breaker alone. The standard non-GFCI 50A breaker only cost me $30. I have about 35yrs of experience as an electro-mechanical engineer working with a lot of high power equipment. Based on what I've seen over the years, I didn't feel comfortable installing this high amperage service on a NEMA plug so that's why we went hardwired and the cheaper install costs were an added benefit.

If you've having an electrician install this charger in a hardwired config make sure they understand that the charger has built-in protection and likely will not require a GFCI breaker. If they're still saying that by code you have to install GFCI protection then I'd get a 2nd opinion from a different electrical contractor.
From the Chargepoint install manual "If local codes require a GFCI breaker for plug-in installation, ChargePoint recommends a hardwire installation. We do not recommend
using a GFCI breaker as the Home Flex has charging circuit interrupting
device (CCID) protection. Using a GFCI breaker in the panel can cause
nuisance tripping.

If installing the NEMA 14-50 version, strongly suggest using the following for your installation.
