after 3 months all the USB ports gone bad on mine... be aware
The person you were quoting was likely saying that it doesn't come with a power adapter. Many USB hubs are powered, meaning they get power from the wall.

This USB hub has "power delivery" aka "PD" which means that the USB-C ports can output up to 100W to power other devices plugged into it. The hub itself would need to be supplied with that 100w+ from elsewhere first, though. So if you wanted to charge your phone or tablet or something off of this, it'd need to be plugged into another power adapter brick or device outputting that.
Testing now… standby!

Edit: worked fine with 12.9" 5th Gen iPad Pro!

It has pass through power so you'll still need to provide your own PD adapter.

Anyone know if this would work with a current gen iPad Pro?

I think you're right. One of the item images says "*PD charger and cable not included".

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. I just assumed everyone knows that a hub like this doesn't supply power unless it's being powered

Really wish more at this price point include Ethernet.
The cheapest steam deck docks are about $20 and have Ethernet. I've been using one with my computer with not obvious issues.

No kidding. I need to find a 'real' dell dock or something - I have a 12" MacBook that has only one USBc port that I'm using alongside my synology NAS for downloads and the -arrs etc. right now the usb c port is only supplying power, I really need to get it wired in via Ethernet
