Works fine for a beater or a car you think you'll sell soon. If you're set on going for these Walmart batteries and will keep the car for a while, I think the 2/3yr warranty ones are a better choice, since there's a good chance that it will go out during that timeframe and you'll actually collect on the warranty. (I personally think they are all the same batteries, just a different sticker. No evidence to back up that claim, though.)

The 24F was listed as being on sale. if it's a normal price or not that's not what's important... What's important is if you can find another battery which has as many CCA for the $$$

The new 580 battery tested at 600 CCA with my battery tester which seems to be pretty damn good.

I'm replacing a 800CCA Exide 24FX I probably got years ago with this one. I'll let you know how many years I get out of this one year warrantied battery. From what I've seen the warranties aren't worth the price...

I think it is the 1 year ones that die in the 2-3 year time frame which gives the brand a bad reputation.

Yeah. I've had two Interstate batteries from Costco fail after about a year or year and a half. This was from two totally different cars (one is a car the other an SUV). Costco gave me a full exchange (plus change in price) both times but said if it fails again then the refund will be prorated based on the length of use.

Just a tip. Look for the serical #'s starting with JC (Johnson Controls)they seem to be the better consistent performers.

next move..

Goto Costco and get an interstate from them. Smilie

Costco doesn't offer replacement warranty anymore. All battery warranties are only 3 years pro-rated. Better to go with Sam's club that still offers full replacement for 3 years.

I bought a Walmart battery with the same 3 yr warranty as Costco's interstate battery for about 10% less. The everstart was a maintenance free battery with a visible electrolyte meter and a carrying handle, which makes installation and transporting the battery much easier than interstate. The interstate gave up after 5 years. I'll stick with everstart if I can get the same service length from it over Costco.
