If you plan on playing games that use the shoulder buttons you may find the RG35XX H (basically the same thing in a horizontal format) is a more comfortable (if slightly less portable) option.

Just be aware that the d-pad on the RG35XX H is not as responsive as the one on the Plus, for whatever reason. My guess is that was one of the tradeoffs needed to keep the price the same while adding two additional analog sticks.

I got the Rg35xx. It wasn't as bad as I thought. If the dpad is anything similar, all I'm gonna say is it will eventually wear out. This is something of the 1980/1990s era of design and I use to fix these of the old consoles.

The question is whether we can purchase components to fix it or will we have to junk the thing after the dpad starts to go (it will go eventually). Once I hit the 2ds, 3DS with a clickable dpad.. it's really difficult going backwards to this old generation.

With the Rg35xx in my hand, I still say the $40 range or the premium at >$300 for brand names way to go. Emulation can only go so far as the -sole- reason to purchase a product. Purchase of the middle products I don't see the value, at the point go get the big boys.

the RG35xxH also has analog sticks, which is nice for the higher end systems that this thing is capable of. But yeah, it totally depends on your preferences.

I bought a Plus, paired it with my old Stadia controller that was not being used, and hooked it up to the TV. No need for the additional analog sticks. And I can still carry it around and play almost every game on the go.

Can it hook up to 2 controllers? How many controllers max?

Update: " Absolutely possible. In Anbernic's introductory video, they demonstrate various multiplayer options, including the method you mentioned or involving up to four players in a game with just one RG35XX Plus, using three additional Bluetooth controllers and a TV/monitor."

Up to 3 controllers. 4 was mentioned but assumed. I read other sources that the bluetooth may take some work to get right. So it's possible but not with ease.

I just watched a review yesterday that tested N64 and the games run very well. Some emulation options had to be changed for some games. PS1 runs well on older hardware so I'm sure it's good on this.

This is a claim that requires evidence. I'm pretty certain that you're quoting prices for the non-plus model.
