Flood their account deletion team. If they are unable to process the onslaught of account deletion requests as stipulated by the CCPA, they are subject to fines of $2,500 for each account.
Anyone that created an account for this, put in an account delete request here: Privacy Web Form https://privacyportal.o After you select your state, it will prompt what type of request you are making. Select "Delete My Account and/or Personal Information" I'd suggest adding a reason along the lines of "I've lost confidence in Applebee's data handling based on the Date Night promotion technical errors" Source: This is linked from the footer of the Applebee's site. Obviously, if you already had an account with rewards points, don't do this if you want to keep them. |

Subject: Complaint about Applebee's Date Night Promotion
Dear Applebee's Customer Service, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent Date Night promotion offered by Applebee's. As a loyal customer, I was eagerly looking forward to participating in this event, only to be left utterly disappointed by the way it was handled. The promotion, which was advertised to offer a special Date Night experience, sold out in less than two minutes, leaving many genuine customers, myself included, unable to secure a reservation. What was particularly frustrating was the apparent lack of safeguards against bots and unfair practices that may have contributed to this rapid sell-out. It is unacceptable that Applebee's did not implement any measures to ensure that genuine customers had a fair chance of participating in the promotion. The lack of safeguards against bots and automated purchasing systems seems to have allowed unfair advantages to certain individuals or entities, resulting in genuine customers being left out. As a long-standing patron of Applebee's, I expected better from a company that prides itself on providing a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for its customers. The swift sell-out of the Date Night promotion, coupled with the absence of protective measures, has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I urge Applebee's to review its promotional strategies and implement stronger safeguards to prevent such situations from recurring in the future. Genuine customers should have an equal opportunity to benefit from these promotions without the fear of being edged out by unfair means. I trust that Applebee's will take this matter seriously and take appropriate steps to address the concerns raised. As a loyal customer, I sincerely hope that the company will use this feedback to improve its approach to promotions and ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all customers. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution. Sincerely, [Your Name] |

On another note, I'm wondering if there IS a catch because I don't understand why they would take that big a hit on their profits.
If they only have a limited amount of these passes, ~ 100, then it generates enough publicity to be worth it regardless.
But this could be great for nights when neither one of us feels like cooking. Guess I have a few days to think about it.

I usually go there in the afternoon with my family.

Let me quickly break down the economics of a deal like this, and why it makes sense for Applebee's:
A couple's best use of this would be the "2 for $26," which is included in the promotion.
However, my local area has up-charges of up to $5 per entree for most items on the 2 for $26. Both diners upgrade to an 8oz sirloin and suddenly their check is at $36.
Then it's date night, so let's add tipsy Cupid cocktails at $6 a piece. $48.
Perhaps a round of Bahama Mama's for $11 each? $70, optionally.
Throw in dessert, which isn't included in the 2 for $26, and the check is at $78 before tax and tip.
$30 gets date night going. Some nights couples will splurge, and this type of promotion is great publicity. All-in-all the most Applebee's could lose on a couple that comes in at exactly $30 each time on 52 dates a year is a couple hundred dollars in food cost, but the couples that add drinks, up-charges, and/or desserts will make up for it as will the word-of-mouth marketing.
In for two.
I think the biggest deal is it's flexible...it's not just once per week, it's limited to once per 24-hour period. You could, if you want to SuperSize me, buy a year's worth of meals for one and potentially 2 with discipline, for $~1,400(7x52 meals($200)). Damn slick for to-go being included.
RIP their ops teams.
