How do you get this to work if you only keep it for 4 months?
Thought it's a 24 Month Bill credit?

"Get reimbursed over 24 months
Receive $27.09 off each bill for 24 months
The credit is tied to the person who activated the device"

Sorry for the ignorance but I'm new to Google Fi deals!

I bought a FI sim card from Walmart and activated it. When I activated it, the promos switched from new customer with bill credits to existing customer with instant rebate. I ordered the phone with the discount showing, so the life on my account was probably like 24 - 36 hours.

The promo tracker recognized the phone was (falsely) active on another account about 24 hours after I activated it. I checked the promo tracker and then Fi sent me an e-mail saying my promo wasn't going to be kept or whatever.

I'm playing it safe this time and waiting until I'm billed before I sign up for the promo. However, if you check Google Fi reddit, the issue seems to pop up for all sorts of people with various length of long active, re-activated accounts or newly activated accounts. Some people get the issue fixed, and some people end up returning.
thanks. seems like whatever error it is, happens soon after activation so thats good to know. i dont think ordering time frame has anything to do with that error, more so with activation. Now, i am not sure what the "correct" process is to activate the new phone on the same account (use the new sim that might come with S24 or new esim generated for S24 or transfer esim from current phone) but will figure it out by the time phone is here. no matter what, should be done logged into same account and maybe follow the steps in app or whatever. In this case the time period between activations will be at least 13 days.

What's unclear is that if I activate a service today and buy a promo deal in three days, am I considered a current customer for the promo.

That's what I am thinking too. From what I recall Fi gives you 30 days after the phone is shipped to get it activated. Can activate Fi on eSIM today, wait for the first bill, and get the phone activated. Definitely going to be activating it on the current account then.

important mention for anyone who's rejoining to get the promo.

so it seems a potential issue is that you if return to fi again and see the 650 instant discount promotion, when you activate it you may be perceived as ineligible because your account is too new and your promo will say it got activated by a new user, meaning they'll claw back the rest of the 650. supposedly a guy in a previous thread said your account must be active for 21 days (either in the last month or last 6 months, we are unsure) to get eligibility as an existing user. There was also some talk of needing to join for 21 days before even seeing the offer, but it's a game of telephone at this point.

In short, we need a guinea pig to reactivate an account, get the offer, then try to activate the phone immediately and see if the promotion starts ticking down.
Thanks. Reactivate after 21 days should be good.

if it were 21 days, google could just say that and enforce that? and apparently not everyone who is signing up today is seeing the promo so there is some check going on. but yeah i can wait 21 days before activating if necessary (i reactivated today)

I had Simply Unlimited too. I switched to the Unlimited Plus and can get the increased credits.
That is awesome to hear. I didn't think that was possible.

So for those of us who partook in the S23 Ultra Google Fi deal, did the four months of service and canceled around June-July 2023 after the 120 days of service, are we able to partake in this S24 Ultra deal in the same way?
This S24 deal is for people who currently have active Fi service, or someone who had Fi service within the last 180 days. You'll need to find out the EXACT date when you cancelled your Fi service. If it was near the end of July 2023, then you're still within the 180 days period. If you cancelled in June 2023, then you're outside of the 180 days period.

Use this Date Calculator to find out how many days have elapsed between your cancellation date and today. https://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

I had to switch my service to the ultimate unlimited from the regular unlimited in order to see the $650 deal. Trading in my base 256gb s23 from last year for $270. Net price $380 for a much better phone.

buying the promo deal is only tied to IF your account is eligible. rest will only be known when phone/promo is activated

Based on this wording, people who had the S23U deal from last year will just barely qualify. I'll have to think on this...

You can probably sell that S23 for more than that easily.

Right, but it appears that even if the system lets you buy the phone with an instant discount (as in, sees you as an eligible current customer) the promo might not properly activate for you.

FWIW, last month I sold my 256GB base S23 that I got from Fi during the Feb 2023 deal (never actually used) on Swappa for $525 and netted $470 after fees and shipping.

Question is ? after 120 days can you take the phone and use it with another carrier?
