How do you get this to work if you only keep it for 4 months?
Thought it's a 24 Month Bill credit?

Can you activate with current sim, remove the sim and use the s24 with a different carrier? And keep the Fi sim active with the original phone?

That's what I did last year with the S23U.

What you can't do is stick your Fi SIM into any other phone. If you do, you get clobbered for the $650. Activate it, make sure the clock starts in your dashboard, and then remove it and put it somewhere safe.

Please clarify "current SIM". If it's an active Fi SIM in another phone, its service will be transferred to the S24's SIM when the S24 is activated. After that, your can remove the S24 SIM and stash it away, but not used it in another phone other than the S24. You can use the S24 with a different carrier at the same time as your Fi service, but one has to be on a pSIM and one on an eSIM.

Placed my order for the S24U 512GB black, thanks for all the help thread. I will be transferring the activated eSIM to the new phone once it arrives (will remove the pre-installed SIM in the S24U before turning it on for the first time), make sure Fi has transferred over to the S24U, and then transfer my main T-Mobile pSIM into the S24U to transfer over to the new phone.

That's exactly my plan as well, but with the ATT prepaid pSim since I'm prepaid until June

I purchased the flexible plan, new number, on my pixel 6a with esim.

How can I make sure everything runs through my physical SIM instead of FI?

under SIM manager, make sure pSIM is "primary" and can limit data to pSIM only.
