I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

How do you pay in full. Do we just adjust the down payment at checkout to make sure it is greater than the estimated trade in value? Thanks.

Are you happy with it? The screen line is super deep in my phone. Also, it doesn't open flat anymore. It's more like at 170 degrees. Front screen typing is narrow, so typing is a pain, so much typo on the keyboard. I feel it will be worth buying in a few years but not right now
My Inner screen on Fold 4 went black after 15 months. It's out of warranty. Lucky my chase flex card reimbursed me $500 for the damage. I'm using Fold 5 now.

Can you buy a phone from Tracfone or Straight Talk and trade it in without even activating it, just for the purpose of a trade-in, or do you need to pay for a month of service on the original carrier first?

You pick pay in full or eip during order. Just select the full price. Its the step before you do trade in.

Yes, you can. You don't need to buy a plan/service if you are immediately trading it in

100% free? You didn't have to sign up for any phone service?

Are there any cheap phones (probably sub-$50) that can be purchased to qualify, preferably without activation? Obviously, eBay for old phones is an option, but I know that sometimes stores have cheap $20 phones you can buy without activation as well.

You're only getting $180 of value out of the S23 FE if you trade it in whereas you can probably get $300 selling it on Swappa if the phone is in great condition.
It's actually brand new. But it's locked to Metro for 6 months. I figure it's easier to just dump it here.
