I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

So even with in store trade ins they charge the full tax amount? That sucks, at least you can rest in peace knowing that CA will be putting your taxes to good use, such as providing healthcare to illegal immigrants or providing needles to homeless heroin addicts.
I'm not sure I've never done anything in store but I know that online you don't get the tax back.

Anyone knows when the credit will apply to my account after the assessment is complete?

Received the email and the portal updated as complete yesterday morning. However, the credit has not appeared in my account yet so far. Thank you!

Activate the s24 today. Does anyone know if I have to use the phone for 2 months for it to unlock or now I can just pop out the sim and go back to my Pixel 8 Pro?

I think Spectrum might be committing tax fraud then because CA tax law says this:

Double discount
As a retailer, you may offer a "double discount" to customers for certain manufacturer coupons. For example, your customer presents a manufacturer's coupon offering $1 off the purchase of a specific product. In turn, you also allow an additional $1 off the selling price. In this case, the value of the manufacturer's coupon is included in your total taxable sales. The additional $1 discount you provide to your customer is not subject to tax.

https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/formspub...#discounts

So even if Spectrum were to try and claim that the amount that Assurant is paying should be taxed, it seems that the extra $700 that Spectrum is offering should not be taxed. I could be wrong, but not sure what other category this would fall into.

I received e-mail yesterday and the credit was in my account today. I could see it under Billing section online for mobile. I would think you should see it by tomorrow based on what everybody is reporting.

I asked when they were doing my refund and they said it is 60 days. They have eSIM activation with the S24 so there is no SIM to pop out. If you want to switch your Spectrum mobile plan back to your Pixel 8 Pro you might be able to do that and still get the S24 unlocked. However, I did also ask them if I wanted to go back to a SIM device from eSIM do I just put back in the old SIM card that I have and they told me that they would have to send me a new SIM card for the device that does not support eSIM. If your Pixel 8 Pro supports eSIM then you might be able to switch back online or over the phone. I would think you could still unlock your S24 after 60 days but probably worth calling and confirming if you switch back to your other device can you still unlock after 60 days.

Is anyone else's trade-in taking a long time to update? It is going on 2/8/2024 and I'm seeing this:

Your device was received at our warehouse on 01/29/2024. It should be assessed by 01/31/2024.

If you take the sim out of s24 then put back in Pixel. The Pixel will shown as device in your account. When you request to unlock s24, Spectrum won't unlock it. You have put Sim back, change the device in your account, when it 's shown in your account you can request then Spectrum will unlock it.

HOW OFTEN will spectrum unlock a device on an account? i.e. rather than paying for multiple lines in parallel - can I just pay for 1 line and serially switch out the phone(s) every day X number of days as allowed by their unlock policy? Meaning - is it 60 days the IMEI is active? 60 days of billing on the phone number? etc.

Spectrum is kind of crazy/unique at the moment in this regard. As long as your device is paid in full it seems you can upgrade as much as you want. My account page right after I activated the new phone said I could upgrade. Some people said the bought S23 and then traded in for S23+. Some people in this thread also said that they were blocked from being able to do trade ins at the store and can only purchase online because they were doing too many promos/trade ins. The 60 day thing is a good question, whether they will unlock the device 60 days after activation even if you switch device or if it has to be active 60 consecutive days.

Active for 60 consecutive days is a tall order considering your phone battery could have died and you didn't turn it back on for 24 hours or you were flying overseas and didn't use it for a week. Behavior tracking is difficult to prove. I think it's 60 days of active account in good standing is the best they could enforce and making sure the phone is registered on the network at the time of the request.

By active I mean connected to your account, it does not matter if you have it on or not. For sure you do not have to have it on since many people just buy the phone, activate it, and leave it off for 60 days then unlock. The question is what happens if you switch to another device on the line after you activate this one, can you still unlock at 60 days or do you have to have the device connected to the account (i.e. the associated device with the line) for 60 consecutive days?

First two trade-ins have successfully posted to my Spectrum account.

Still have two in process. One's allegedly stuck in Coppell TX, the other was delivered to Assurant on 02/05/2024; estimated assessment by 02/09/2024. Hoping the one in Coppell just didn't get scanned by USPS and is already in Assurant's hands.

--edit--
Just got two emails from Assurant approving the two trade-ins. So if your trade-in is stuck in Coppell, give it a few days and see if Assurant approves it.

Now just waiting for Spectrum to ship my last S24+ order.
