Obviously a huge YMMV, being Best Buy open box - but still some in stock around me in NYC.

I picked up one in Fair Condition for $1340. Mine looks brand new, but there was no charger in box.

I actually opened mine up to inspect after picking up, and after pointing out missing charger Best Buy sent me to Geek Squad where they actually hooked me up with a new charger. Again, a huge YMMV - I probably lucked out with a cool employee as it seemed unofficial lol

Pros: FPS on games is awesome so far - hooked it up to a 4K TV and getting 150+ FPS on max settings, with DLSS. Night and day difference from my 2060 Zephyrus laptop. Build quality is also very good, and fans are loud but not nearly as bad as Id feared based on reviews, much quieter than the Zephyrus it's replacing.

Cons: Heavy laptop, and comically large charging brick. All the reviews say it's a big charging brick so I was expecting it to be large, and was still blown away. Looks like something from 1998.

Overall, a 4080 for this price is a steal, so just giving a heads up

"Cons: Heavy laptop, and comically large charging brick"

These are less "laptops" and more "portable desktops", so for the target audience it doesn't matter

When I click on the open box link, it just takes me to a blank page.

For future reference, though, are open box laptops from Best Buy guaranteed to at least have the charger?

Hopefully that's a dumb question, but on most of the condition descriptions, it says "may be missing accessories," even when the only accessory is the charger.

True - that's mostly my use case (and why I am keeping it)....but the only reason people buy this over a desktop is because they do plan to move it occasionally.

Nah, they're not. It was supposed to be missing the charger, I just got lucky they were nice enough to hook me up.

They had a few in stock, and I asked if I could check those out and maybe swap it or pay extra for the "good condition" open box if it had a charger...and the guy just found one in the back and put it in my box.

Just out of curiosity, when did the warranty period start on device as per dell's website?

I would be curious how much they are charging for extended warranty with accidental. I just picked up a Dell G5 with an i9 13th gen and a 4070. It works good... it was like $1300 with the upgrade to 3 years AP. btw, it has the same ridiculous power brick.

Lastly, how is the heat on that unit?

11105. My local store doesn't have any, but Bay Parkway in Brooklyn has 1 left. Were 3 or 4 when I got mine

my Dell warranty expires on 8/10/24, which must be a year from when the first buyer bought this laptop. Dell says I can extend for a year until 8/10/25 for $262 + taxes, which seems a little steep. I think that doesn't include accidental either - doesn't show an option to even add that.

Heat is OK, GPU is really low, usually under 70 C....CPU is a bit higher, usually around 80-90....but I have only had it for 2 days so take that with a grain of salt

All gone in New York area now. And the 4090 laptops are all more expensive than before Christmas thanks to increased price on SSD and RAM

Those components were purchased in large orders long before Christmas so it has nothing to do with that. Prices always shoot up after the Holidays.

Thank you. That is steep... it is also the alienware way. The reviews do not look great, so I may leave the unit sitting at the BB location... decision decisions since it is over an hour away.

in CT, there's open box fair for $1341, but the description of fair condition makes it seem like the case is going to be scuffed to hell. not in the market for a laptop, but this is a killer deal if you just want functionality and don't care about scrapes and scuffs.

Yea - fair condition is scrapes and scuffs or missing components. So it'll either be scraped up, or missing charger like mine. Definitely glad mine was just charger
