It doesn't "gum up" The ethanol arnd gasoline seperate from sitting and a layer of water forms between them, the water and Ethanol feed a specific bacteria that forms very corrosive acid and such which eats through rubber hoses, melts fiberglass, and with aluminum carbs, heads, etc it eats the coating off and corrodes the metal. The oxidation is so puffy (it is nasty puffed up crust) that nothing flows. It is "rust" but from aluminum. Trust if it were "gummed up" you could simply run fresh gas and carb cleaner through it and restore it to health. The acid literally destroys the parts requiring replacement. This begins about 2-3 weeks after you purchase the fuel. Stabilizer does not inhibit this, it slows it but it doesn't neutralize the effect.

Comes up as $899 with veteran account. Damn good deal, but I have one of the older models without bluetooth already.

Worked great during a few blackouts here in metro Detroit so far. Runs my lights, internet, TV, electronics etc., and probably the microwave if I'm careful enough. I've idled it through the night without issue.

Manual says E10 is okay so that's what I run, just need to keep up on maintenance. make sure to follow the oil change guidance, and set the fuel switch to off and run it until the carb is empty before you put it away.

True for all small engines. Saves from cleaning or rebuilding a carb. My local regional airport sells it I take my large 14 gallon unit here and fill up. I get 1 pul starts. no issues.
Good intel. Thanks for sharing.

WEN's fuel shutdown valve is a life saver. It prevents residual gas from gumming up the carb. You don't need to buy ethanol-free gas for WEN generators with this feature, and your WEN can still start up after a long storage.
I also decided the WEN generator was a better value and it cost 1/3 the retail honda price. The only tip I have is to buy a magnetic oil dip stick to catch all the fine oil tank metals because the engine is quality is not as good as Honda and will deteriorate the engine

This is the older version without the CO detector
Wrong.

What the hell is with so many people here chiming in with blatantly false information lately?

Not only is "Advanced CO shutdown" in the product title @ HD, it's right on the main feature showcase:
  • CO-MINDER sensor offers protection against carbon monoxide

Experts,

I have a gas-powered furnace to heat the home. But it needs electricity to run the heater blower/fan. Can this be used to power the fan using the technique explained by this gentleman on his youtube channel?

Thank you for your input and suggestions.
Save yourself the headache and buy this https://ezgeneratorswitch.com
And to boot it's actually legal and fairly idiot proof.

This is a great generator. I am in the military and we use them to power our field medical equipment. We have had this same model for about 5 years. My unit beats these, and they can take it. Great price and a solid investment if you're in the market for a good generator. Super quiet and really do get the 8hr run time. Buy this, you won't be disappointed.

I have this model with the Companion with 30a for my 5th wheel, but end up only using this one as it is sufficient for one 15,000BTU AC unit with a soft start.

I've wanted to get myself one of these Honda's for a while, or spend less and get a larger Harbor Freight Predator with the warranty. The main purpose is for hurricanes (I live in South Florida). I see mention here if you leave fuel inside, it'll gunk up, etc. If you plan to store it, can't you just let the generator run till it dies so all the fuel is burned up before storage?

only legal option for doing that.
I noticed you forgot to mention interlock as the other perfectly legal option, why would that be?

Thanks OP. I just ordered one. I'm not 100% sure i'll keep it, but order now and i have 90 days to decide. Who knows, maybe the price will go down more and I can get a price adjustment.

These generators go for more used on FB Marketplace by me. I already have a 4k Champion inverter, but this is a lot more convenient to use.

Been eyeballing this unit for a while for home backup use and may jump on it with the military discount. With a gas station nearby that sells ethanol free it seems like a no brainer

This must be why my snowblower would not run. Thanks for the info
