It's a tempered glass base. I got duped into buying one a while back… I don't trust tempered glass to hold an expensive TV.

I bought one of these for my sister and her new 65" set. She had a 42" set on a small stand, and it was the best solution when she upgraded. TV manufacturers should design their stands this way, instead of those legs spread out a mile.
