The sprat-filled products come from Poland (with the sticker on top of the can), while the ones with sardines come from Canada (with the label printed directly on the cans).

Be careful buying this brand. I bought a case a few years ago and found them a lot more fishy tasting than with regular sardines. I skimmed through the comments, and apparently they sometimes use sprats instead of sardines.

Sardines are usually low in heavy metal since they're consist of various small fishes.

Heavy metals, radiation, etc are only a major concern on large, older fish due to bioaccumulation. These small sardines don't live long enough to accumulate levels of toxins that are detrimental. That being said, I would not eat any fish every day... maybe a couple times a week.

Saedines sold in Costco are less when on sale and taste very good.
I agree - just picked up some more last night. Season brand.

Have tried Wild Planet from Costco in the past but I thought they were fishy tasting (and had the skins on vs. Season brand that are skinless).

There are lots of reviews online and a lot of consensus of good vs bad.

Yes, this is MUCH more of a concern with tuna. That should be about a once-a-month fish at most.

Never have eaten a single sardine in my life. Something keeps me from trying. Sounds like I'm missing out! Wink

IMHO I would Not trust anything coming out of polish factories.. all their food is below European standard, hence they're trying to push their goods overseas

No coupon. People don't know how to post deals. They post a coupon that can be used on multiple products, but only post it for one product page. Would be nice if people would learn to post all the products at the same time that apply under one coupon.

I got the oil and got green chile for $6.50. Ingredients say Herring. I'll try it at that price. Good first snack to break intermittent fasting

I give the plain sardines in water to my dog about once a week. I'd check the ingredients for any that are in sauce.

If you ever do try them, try Season brand - Best sardines I have ever had! (and I've tried many).
I like mine plain or over rice. Crackers are a classic pairing and a nice neutral platform to try them for the first time, you'll then know where to go from there. Some options you can try are lemon juice, some parsley or cilantro, capers, chili peppers, your favorite hot sauce, etc. A lot of ingredients tend to detract from the sardine so don't overdo it.

You're not poor enough to skimp on sardines. Don't buy these, buy KO at a minimum.
