The sprat-filled products come from Poland (with the sticker on top of the can), while the ones with sardines come from Canada (with the label printed directly on the cans).

Be careful buying this brand. I bought a case a few years ago and found them a lot more fishy tasting than with regular sardines. I skimmed through the comments, and apparently they sometimes use sprats instead of sardines.

Heavy metals, radiation, etc are only a major concern on large, older fish due to bioaccumulation. These small sardines don't live long enough to accumulate levels of toxins that are detrimental. That being said, I would not eat any fish every day... maybe a couple times a week.

Yes, this is MUCH more of a concern with tuna. That should be about a once-a-month fish at most.

IMHO I would Not trust anything coming out of polish factories.. all their food is below European standard, hence they're trying to push their goods overseas

If you ever do try them, try Season brand - Best sardines I have ever had! (and I've tried many).
I like mine plain or over rice. Crackers are a classic pairing and a nice neutral platform to try them for the first time, you'll then know where to go from there. Some options you can try are lemon juice, some parsley or cilantro, capers, chili peppers, your favorite hot sauce, etc. A lot of ingredients tend to detract from the sardine so don't overdo it.
