I got an off brand for $35 that works with Makita batteries. Does the trick for what I need it too. Works good for bushes and small branches

The Milwaukee saw is way better and will last a lot longer

Nope, I have Wilwaukee for couple years, never used it since I got this Makita few months ago, it has auto tensioner, different oil supply line, it is lighter, better ergonomic, and more powerful compared to 12v.

Reciprocating IMO. Ease of blade replacement means you can do things like cut stump roots in the dirt with a reciprocating saw that you wouldn't want to do with a chain saw. Marginally safer too. Of course if you are cutting anything bigger than say 6" diameter you are going to want a chainsaw.
