It can often be found on sale at under $600.

as much as I like the body of a Strat(I own three) I don't play them as well as my Gibsons(also three).

But the one they posted was new and a completely different color. If you look on reverb it's cheaper than a lot of the used ones just exactly like it.

Folks familiar with PAS, know they'll receive a new product and color is a preference. Some may choose to pay an additional $110 for Sonic Blue.

The new version of the used guitar you suggested is $829 on their site. It doesn't say open box or anything like that for the used one, so how are we to assume that it's new?

Funny, exact opposite. Gibsons just don't feel right in my hands at all, too much weight and clearcoat/lacquer just gets in my way.

This sonic blue is exclusive to guitar center, so any HSS you get somewhere else will not be the FSR model.

This sonic blue came out when they released the plus top blueburst hss and the greenburst hss.

The price has gone up like everything else. The blueburst hss was on sale for 549 in 2017. so 649 isnt too bad. Only 100 more after 5+ years of fender price increases.

I encourage you to read through the guitar threads. It's been discussed many times.

I have bought 10 guitars from them (marked as used) and 6 of them seemed new. The rest were truly b-stock or used. If you want to be positive to get a new one, you need to buy a "new" one.

I've purchased a half dozen guitars and amps from them in the last few months and they've all been new. It must be YMMV.

This color was a Guitar Center exclusive for the Player series a few years back. Fender makes several 'exclusive' finishes for various retailers each year. Anyway, I bought this back in 2020 and it's a nice variant of the Player series. It is not, however "Sonic Blue" as advertised. I'm not sure why Fender's plant in Mexico calls this Sonic Blue, but it's not. It's very close to Daphne blue. Either way, $650 for this guitar new is a very good deal considering the Player Stratocasters SSS usually go for $849 new.
