I have a meyer lemon and two plums I got on sale from FGT. They are generally high priced but honestly the plums are doing very well at about a year and a half in and they were larger than most other bare root types I've seen.
That said generally speaking I think Stark Bros is a better value, and you can normally get decent fig trees at Lowes very inexpensively.
BTW, people around me, Raleigh NC area, seem to have great luck with banana tress. They look like DEAD over the winter but always bounce back in the spring.
Can anyone recommend a source for banana trees for Zone 7? Plenty of nights below freezing but rarely 10F or below.
And yes, I know Walmart, Lowes, HD all sell trees but they are rarely regionally appropriate.
If you bought a tree and it died, $100 for a stick, are you going to go online and complain?
If you ordered a tree and it's thriving a year later, are you thinking about going to BBB to give them a great review?
it is what it is, and there's a lot going on when it comes to growing trees and surviving extreme cold and heat.
Personally, I ordered a Peter's Honey Fig from them last year, and it's still alive. I followed the included instructions and put in the ground about 15 minutes after it was delivered.
Having said that - this company's reviews seem to be even worse than could be reasoned to user error. I've bought three items from here in the past, and they were hit or miss. One frost free gardenia was anything but (despite being planted in the spring and well cared for), one Meyer lemon tree is doing well in a container, and a pomegranate tree that I had ordered arrived DOA and it was a real ordeal to try to get a refund from them. That was the last straw for me.

If you are able to bring inside for the winter, you may also try a dwarf cavendish - https://www.starkbros.c

The only problem i had was the avocado came with a bunch of mealy bugs that took a ton of effort to get rid of (luckily I noticed befor I brought it indoors).
Pear tree also died but that was my own fault running into it with lawnmower lol.
Generally very happy with the company (although I agree they can be pricey if you don't catch a sale)
