Eh. I think baseline tip for deliveries should be $5. At least that's what I do.

It's not like drivers get compensated for these discounts.

Added a $25 item to my cart and went to checkout. The total with service fees and taxes was $13.69, and that was before the tip. They suggested a tip of $9.xx, but even with a $6 tip, the total is about $20. Not much of a deal unless you really didn't want to step out of your house.

Fwiw, I generally tip 20% on whatever the final cost is, not the subtotal. So in your case if we round it up to $14, the tip would be $2.80 not $9.

I do tip more if the person really goes out of their way, if the weather is particularly crappy, or if it's groceries being delivered, as those can be heavy, but 20% is my normal tip. I generally tip 20% at restaurants too so that seems fair to me.

To be honest I generally don't order stuff for delivery that comes out to just $14, since I usually order for both myself and my girlfriend so the tip is kind of naturally over $5, but I get your point.

Scheduled lunch/dinner for Friday from Flame Broiler - was in the mood for teriyaki and hoping it's good (reviews were good). Got two bowls (one steak and one chicken) for $9 after taxes, fees and the tip.

I worked across the street from the first franchised Flame Broiler (circa Y2K). Ate veggie bowls at lunch most every day for $4.50. And complementary "Sport-Tea"! It was thought of as a hippie/health-nut spot at the time.

It blows my mind now they've expanded since then! Enjoy.

I'm with you here. I usually do baseline 5 or $1 a mile. if I splurge on some far stuff that would take me like 20+ mins one way then they're getting a good tip.

$10 bucks is nothin compared to driving 40+ mins round trip for some fk'in food
