Yes, I was pointing to a comparable set, not to the cheap thick walled incomplete Pittsburgh ones. Those don't even include a 12mm or 16mm...SMH

It may be more comparable, but the point the others are trying to make is not to buy outside your requirements. I do a lot more mechanical work than the average DIYer (most people on SD) and I've never had an issue with the Pittsburgh $25 sets.
I am still sitting here salivating over the Milwaukees, as I am a Packout packrat myself... but still not gonna bite. I just don't need em.

Name a vehicle where a 16mm is a common size. I understand 12mm as it's common in a Toyota. But a 16mm? I think that along with my 13, 11 and 9 has sat in the same spot since I bought my HF set.

The head size of a 10mm diameter bolt in the ISO standard is 16mm, which is used in most American brands, modern European cars, and an ever increasing amount of Asian vehicles. The old DIN (german) and JIS (japanese) standards have been slowly falling away in favor of ISO for many many years now.

You will never need a 16mm ever. It is exactly the same as a 5/8 and that's why it is almost never included in a set because it is redundant.

Maybe we can round them all up and open up a HF tool thread that they can just go to town in talking about all the great deals and money they saved over those name brand-chasing consumers.

Why would anyone need to use a 1/2" impact socket to remove a 10 mm or 12 mm nut/bolt? A quality 1/2" ratchet is good for any fastener under 15 mm without much effort. My 21 yr old cheap made in Taiwan $15 HF metric impact set has never failed. For around $25 today, you also get a 27 mm, 30 mm, and 32 mm! Spending $ on premium sockets that you will never use is dumb.

The HF metric set comes with 27 mm, 30 mm, and 32 mm sockets that can be used on popular autos. The HF set don't fail, and they are cheap. So what is the logic in paying $150 for a set that tops out at 24 mm?

Hahaha. Enjoy your HF tools. It's like you guys are hunkering in the corner waiting for a tool deal to make the front page so you can storm it to try and convert people over to HF. I have no issue with HF - it fills a market segment much like Dollar Tree does. I just hate the constant "why buy this when you can buy HF instead" on every single tool thread that exists.

We get it. HF is cheaper. Great for those that use HF. Now go away.

I mean, .125mm slop is only .005" which makes it less than 1% oversized. Most people and fasteners can live with that. Besides, I've had sockets/wrenches with worse tolerances. But, I don't disagree with you either. I work with my tools for a living, and I do not skip sizes or substitute sae/metric if I can at all help it. For the home-gamer, I'd say he's right. For the professional, I'd say you're right.

Dummies buy expensive sockets to impress other dummies. Others use quality cheap impact sockets to remove stubborn nuts and bolts. Knowledge is power. No one is stopping you from purchasing those gold plated sockets.
