I have to disagree with this. I've been using a DC HC550 (16TB model) for months and had a pair of HC320s (8TB) before that since 2019 and they've never been noticeably louder than the WD Blue drives or any other drive I've had since the 90s.

If your drives are vibrating "like crazy", there could be an issue inside your case. Bad mounting, broken cage, etc. Or your drives may be damaged but still chugging along. All modern drives should be balanced and not vibrate hardly at all if stationary.
My drives (the audible ones) make clicky/chatter noises. Only my enterprise drives are audible.

Here is the same drive from the same seller on eBay. This one includes the 5 year warranty for $8 more

I emailed the seller on NewEgg and they confirmed they include the same 5 year warranty.

What's the warranty for these? I only see a 90 day return window.
It's Newegg. When they say refurbished, you should be thinking they've been in service for 5 years and Newegg bought them in bulk from a storage cloud provider and ensured they powered up.

Could I use this as a normal HDD in my PC for storage? Not for playing games from just for storing media.
Yeah it can.

Can confirm, I e-mailed the seller, they give a 5 year warranty via the seller themselves starting the date of purchase, if they no longer stock them, you get a full refund.

I did the same and they confirmed it:

Hi, These WUH721414ALE604 came with 5 years warranty from our company (start from the date of purchase). If any problem, you can return to us for a replacement or refund (if out of stock). Thank you. Best Regards - goHardDrive

goHardDrive has been around for awhile and are reputable. Like others have said, I have bought these used before and have had zero issues with them.

Yes of coarse!
The world intentionally tries to confuse with naming and terminology. All HDD's are just HDD's, meaning they all do the same thing. The interface matters and changes over time, but a hard drive does what a hard drive does!

Both Amazon and Newegg. Then server part deals dot com later on. These are the reputable sites, other sites like ebay will offer same/similar with often less guarantee/warranty. But sometimes they all sell the same thing in all popular locations. Gotta just be on the look out.

Good luck!
are you sure they were 14TB?

I'm still rocking 8x2TB hard drives from 2010...wondering if this might be a good time to consolidate and downsize to 3x14tb or 2x14tb

More than sure, yes.
These constantly pop up in the 10 - 16 variants. Soon it will be 18 to 24, but we're still a few years away from that.

That's not necessarily correct. I've used enterprise drives in NVRs and never had an issue, just don't use red (non-pro) or green.
