Then I also consider how much I spend on other crap through the year that I get no use out of.
It also depends on if you're a fully working adult vs a young guy living on the cheap at which point I am questioning why you're buying flagship model electronics.
Seems straight forward to me

I went from a Tab S7 FE to the 8+, and noticed the increased battery use. But personally I'm not biting at this deal's upgrade price.
I have yet to see a single upgrade worth actually upgrading for. We "upgrade" just to be on new devices, that's it lol
Only nice thing I've gotten is moving up to a bigger screen which makes work a lot more efficient and easier by using the Tab Ultra versions. Phones I can't tell the difference from an s22 to an s23 to an s24

To actually get an upgrade I feel like you have to wait 5 generations.
Every few years something new gets implemented, either bigger batteries, actual camera upgrades (none of these zoom changes), 120hz refresh rate, and now AI I guess.
I completely agree though. I would say the primary reason I even upgrade yearly has more to do with simply wanting to have the latest product. I definitely don't think anybody can actually justify getting these things because they're actually getting something new that they were missing on their previous device.
I was upgrading on actual release dates, but I felt like a fool lol. So I just changed to upgrading every September as I also upgrade my tablet. and Samsung just happens to do much better bundle deals at least. So now rather than upgrading each device separately, I'm doing a bundle trade-in every September or whenever the tablet also gets released.
looking at the s24 I have to say I see absolutely NOTHING that I feel I'm lacking on my s23. like NO THING

2. They have the exact same screens
3. Battery degradation is negligible.
I wanted the bigger screen though and make it more of a daily driver device.

It is a beast, and it's huge. It's not really a media consumption tablet - just too big. Would make a good laptop replacement, I guess, but that was not what I was looking for.
