The i3-1215U is a gigantic improvement from its predecessor, the Intel Core i3-1115G4, and faster than the Intel Core i3-N305.

If your store doesn't have it, maybe keep the page around to look for an even cheaper Open Box to pop up.

It's amazing how cheap and light these laptops have become. $199 is excellent for a laptop with upgradeability
Agreed. I built my first computer in 1998, and it cost about $1200. I was working a retail job that paid $6/hr, so I had to work and save 200 hours of wages. This thing, after tax is $216ish and minimum wage in my state is about $14.50, so roughly 15 hours of work to buy. And it's definitely faster than my AMD K6 at 450mhz.

Yes you can. This model (and other cheap HPs) has only one storage M.2 slot, so it would be a swap.

If I don't know how to replace the SSD and RAM by myself, how much would it cost to have someone replace it for me, up to 1 TB SSD and 32 GB RAM? Wondering if this is still a good deal for me after adding the costs of upgrading SSD and RAM or if I should just buy a more expensive laptop in the $500 range that already has more RAM and SSD.

This laptop comes with Windows 11 S Mode. Can I clean reinstall the non-S Mode version of Winsows 11 on it?
Moreover to what PC9394 stated, switching from S mode to normal Windows 11 is a 2-3 minute process. Just a couple of clicks and (maybe) a restart. About the most painless thing you can do in Windows. The switch is a one way trip though, no going back without doing a factory reset.

I'm currently using a Lenovo Y50-70 from 2015, and it was top of the line at the time. It still works now, but would this laptop here be an upgrade over what I have? This laptop has less RAM and SSD...

I would say spend and get a machine that comes with more RAM and an additional M.2 slot for a drive. As I mentioned above, this PC has only one storage slot, so it would be a swap for a bigger SSD. If you buy a model that has the second slot, you can wait until the first drive comes close to filling up and then add the second drive (find a friend to do it for you). And you should be able to find an affordable model with 16GB RAM (upgradable to 32GB) pretty easily.

Also, while I do not know know what your requirements are, unless you play big time games and/or perform graphic/video editing, you don't need 32GB RAM. Besides, if you do those things, this PC does not cut it anyway.

I've never purchased from MicroCenter before. Looks like this doesn't come with any warranty. Thoughts on the worth of buying the one year protection plan for $29.99 to cover product failure issues (not those caused by damage, spills, etc.)

Tks!

Thanks. I play games sometimes, but I always have like 100 Chrome tabs open so I need a lot of RAM. I was planning to buy the Asus TUF 15 with a 4060 Nvidia graphics card that sold for $750 around Black Friday/Christmas but it sold out before I could check out. Have been waiting for something similar since then (which I know this laptop is not).
