The Lowes associate was not trying to get it for themselves. This comes from corporate. I think some other stores have the same plan. It is marked that way to mean that it cannot be sold. Sometimes you can sneak one by the cashierless checkouts, but a cashier is supposed to stop the sale. I've wondered why they do this. My best theory is that the price is marked low enough now that when they dispose of the product, the corporate price is low enough that it won't hurt the local stores losses. I think they must track these like broken or stolen goods. If a local manager got rid of 10 at $1000 each, then that $10,000 loss would hurt their monthly books. If if it 10 at 0.02, then 20 cents won't even be noticed or mentioned by the regional manager in a review.

I think this is why Walmart inventory not very accurate especially on discounted items. If a manager recognizes missing inventory when it is full price, they take a big hit on the full price. Instead they wait until corporate puts the item on super clearance and then they take the loss at that heavily discounted price.

don't know if anyone can answer this. i was at a lowe's over the weekend and stumble across some beanie with built in flashlight. the retail price was around $34. But i saw it on clearance for $.02 (yes that's right at first i thought it was $2 but it actually was $.02). but it was behin a locked cage so i had to ask one of the associate to open it. she opened it but said some crap about it being under a certain amount and could not sell it to me and shouldn't be on the shelf. it was kinda strange. now i wonder if she was just keeping it for herself or what.
No she was correct, retailers get emails from the supplier or manufacturer saying to pull these certain items. Those items usually get marked to the . 02 so cashier's know not to sell and it should also come up on the registers as no sell. The reasons vary from possibly a recall or defect in certain batches to many other things.

Normal price for me… NOT a SD

Doesn't seem like it is for anyone. Axe it.
They are $12.48 here. It's very berry your mileage may vary.

Be sure to Select the "You're Store" in your area so it shows the local price. My store was set to a different state where the price was $24.xx
