I just purchased this and installed it. Very nice. THROW THE SUPPLIED SCREWS AWAY, and go and buy some better replacements at Lowe's. The hardware supplied is very crappy and multiple screws stripped out and wouldn't go in, even with pilots holes as per the instructions. It's a great tabletop, just save yourself a headache and purchase decent wood screws(as mentioned on other Amazon reviews. They were correct). Enjoy!
I got this last time. It's pretty nice. Big nice block of wood (kinda like butcher block) with a decent clear finish. Feels very sturdy (in studs).
Another good option if you have one around; I got my solid wood door from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. $30

Can I use this for outside, where it would be under an awning away from rain and lots of sun

Installed a pair of these yesterday. Did them side by side to link into one long wall table if you flip both up. They seem like higher quality than I would expect for the price. They are not pre-drilled like some other wall mounted tables I have installed which allowed for me to align them exactly as I wanted. The one negative thing I can say about them is while both wood tops were quality tops, they were distinctly different patterns and ever so slightly different thicknesses which made it tough to get them level. All in all though, for the price it's one of those products that makes you wonder "how in the world do they make this and ship it to me for this price???" They are very heavy.

Would this be good in a garage with just exposed studs? 16 on center for the brackets, but not sure about the soft close.
Yes, you can space the brackets out however. I have mine 32 inches apart on the 1st and 3rd stud, and the soft close bracket on the middle stud. The entire surface can be shifted left or right (so like i have the brackets close to the left edge of the surface, with the right edge hanging over about a foot)

I bought this a few weeks back. Works great, nice and sturdy. Install was okay, I agree that the included screws are garbage but I managed to make it work and just took my time so I didn't strip the heads

Can anyone comment on how easy/possible it is to remove the hardware? I want to use the wood piece only as a desk top since butcher blocks are usually a bit pricier than this.
I was thinking the same. joint two pieces together for a table top, cheaper than getting a big butcher block

Not sure why there are so many comments about the screws being bad. None is my screws were stripped. I definitely drilled pilot holes first, about 2/3 the diameter of the screws. Did this with an impact driver, so that probably helped. But even on 2nd speed setting, no stripping at all. I used a Ridgid driver with DeWalt impact bits and Craftsman socket.
