For those who have other brands, add another. Makita is excellent.

I use any oil on hand. Keeping bar clean and teeth sharp is way more important than oil brand.
Have you used use motor oil on chainsaw?

At $99 this is probably worth it just for the battery and charger. The more eco-systems you have available in your workshop, the more sales you can take advantage of

Brickseek was accurate for me. It showed 2 consistently at the nearest location to me (Sacramento), originally could not find them. Other locations around my area incremented down to zero or "limited quantities" and I never drove to them to bother to look. Then had some time to kill while waiting for an appointment to finish. Saw them wrapped in plastic wrap as part of a pallet full of blue Makita boxes at the very top, after barely seeing the model number poking out while looking from the neighboring aisle at the pallet from the back side. Sorry that this mini-story is long, but this deal seems worth it now especially with the free tools offer that was recently posted. Good luck at your local store!

Worked for me just now. Brickseek showed two stores in my area having it. Like others, it was up high on a shelf where I had to ask an employee to get it.

Worked out perfect.....went back and did a return/rebuy. Also, gives me the option to submit a SECOND rebate through my electric company. So got the chainsaw kit, FREE vacuum, and $60 back from National Grid. Boom!

$30 rebate available in Massachusetts from your Electric company
Too many hoops for that. You gotta submit a W-9 tax form for that rebate. Seems like a headache.

Not sure what rebate you are looking for, but I submitted 1 rebate form with 3 item numbers and our electricity account number, got 3 $30 checks about 6 weeks later

Got this last week and pretty unimpressed. Weak power, and had to push the saw most of the time. It didn't chew through the wood like I'd expect, and it took quite a while to make a cut, even on smaller stuff. I only got a few cuts before the battery was drained (two 10-inch cuts, one 5-inch cut, and one notch out of a standing tree. And those trees were dead trees too). I know it's only 18v but I expected more, considering the brand name. I guess it would be ok if you're limbing small stuff, but anything more I'd suggest something else.
