20TB is a lot of data to lose, so if you buy, at least make sure to run in redundant configurations only.

Re: wiping SMART, apparently they don't but occasionally the manufacturer does.
either way, yes to redundancy but I doubt they would offer a two year warranty on potentially flawed products.

"how loud are these drives? Do they run hot? I have some old WD red 8TB and thinking or replacing them but dont want loud clicking drives.
I did hear clicking noises when the server was booting up but after that it was normal. This was true for my older WD 14TB drives as well. I hear the sound of fans from my servers more than the hard drives. They are not running hot as well. I am replacing a 14TB WD disk with one of these right now"
