Few things to note about these:

They don't require the laptop have DP alt mode on the USB-C connector, which can be a plus, but this means the displays are using DisplayLink which is an abstraction layer built up on USB, and uses the CPU and GPU to render these displays in software. Which if your system is decently powerful and has a dedicated GPU, isn't really a huge issue, but if it has only CPU integrated graphics, DisplayLink performance can be quire terrible under certain conditions, like doing anything that's tasking the GPU with even something as "simple" as YouTube playback, and gaming is out of the question.

They're generally fine for most office uses, but gaming is not going to be a fun experience and if you have no dedicated GPU, even watching videos can lead to the display becoming a stuttering mess.

DisplayLink is useful, but it's not a replacement for a true display connection, like docks that connect over DisplayPort alt mode. But if your laptop doesn't have DP Alt Mode, this is the only way you're going to get a docking station, so it does have some uses.

If you have WalMart GC to burn, they have it also for $20, the seller being HP

Just a heads up, this is a displaylink dock.

Probably fine for most users and office use. Just be aware it will require additional drivers to output video to an external monitor, and you will not be able to drive dedicated GPU graphics to an external monitor with this dock if that is something you need.

displaylink needs its own usb driver, it consumes CPU than GPU to let your CPU on high utilization. It is not suitable to play video (youtube etc.)。 only good for word/Excel office work

But not if you're using the USB ports for the data connection to the laptop, correct?
There are two USB-C ports on the dock. One goes from the dock to the laptop, one is open for other use.

yes, you have to !
it is good for some scenario such as old PC/laptop does not support USB-C DP Alt mode, most intel gen-6 or above CPU supports "USB-C DP Alt mode"

They list compatibly with Ubuntu. Under Linux though Displaylink has some limitations like you cannot scale it independently of other displays and fractional scaling does not work.
So I always try to use only alt mode for display output.

I've actually been specifically looking for an affordable DisplayLink dock. One of my laptops doesn't support DP-Alt mode. DisplayLink is the only viable option and every DisplayLink dock I find is super expensive.

If anyone can't cancel their order and wants to sell theirs, PM me!

Walmart tends to oversell and cancel orders later. Any such cancellations for walmart yet?
