Few things to note about these:

They don't require the laptop have DP alt mode on the USB-C connector, which can be a plus, but this means the displays are using DisplayLink which is an abstraction layer built up on USB, and uses the CPU and GPU to render these displays in software. Which if your system is decently powerful and has a dedicated GPU, isn't really a huge issue, but if it has only CPU integrated graphics, DisplayLink performance can be quire terrible under certain conditions, like doing anything that's tasking the GPU with even something as "simple" as YouTube playback, and gaming is out of the question.

They're generally fine for most office uses, but gaming is not going to be a fun experience and if you have no dedicated GPU, even watching videos can lead to the display becoming a stuttering mess.

DisplayLink is useful, but it's not a replacement for a true display connection, like docks that connect over DisplayPort alt mode. But if your laptop doesn't have DP Alt Mode, this is the only way you're going to get a docking station, so it does have some uses.

If you have WalMart GC to burn, they have it also for $20, the seller being HP

Just a heads up, this is a displaylink dock.

Probably fine for most users and office use. Just be aware it will require additional drivers to output video to an external monitor, and you will not be able to drive dedicated GPU graphics to an external monitor with this dock if that is something you need.

Received mine today. Came with every AC plug type in the world, but NOT the DC-DC cable for older laptops. Anyone know where to get those?

Maybe if he attempted to explain -why- he was so sure, despite the information from the manufacturer combined with multiple users that have received it and not used DisplayLink drivers, the conversation would at least make some sense.
As far as I can see, those who said they didn't install any driver for it, never verified displaylink was not already installed and in use. Most company laptops probably already have it installed.

I'll throw my opinion in based on a couple Linux machines I tested this dock with just now (no displaylink on Linux unless you jump through hoops to build and install the third party kernel module). The display does not work at all. Charging, usb, ethernet all work, but no video output. It will not switch to or use displayport alt mode.

Anyone get this to work? The display doesn't show up via HDMI on both my laptops and two different monitors.

Looks like that thing about the bad displayLink implementation is true.

Worked with my Dell U3818DW Ultrawide monitor on Intel Mac on Sonoma with the default 3840 x 1600 resolution but doesn't have any other resolution options to choose from in the 3000 range. The next step down was at 2560 which is too low res. I have another DP Alt hub that has 3 other options in the 3000 range so that works much better for me. I did update to the latest DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity (Release: 1.10, October 2023).

The power button is useless. It just turns off the dock. Who would ever want to do that?

My dell dock power button powers on/off the actual laptop which is useful when the laptop is closed.
