Few things to note about these:

They don't require the laptop have DP alt mode on the USB-C connector, which can be a plus, but this means the displays are using DisplayLink which is an abstraction layer built up on USB, and uses the CPU and GPU to render these displays in software. Which if your system is decently powerful and has a dedicated GPU, isn't really a huge issue, but if it has only CPU integrated graphics, DisplayLink performance can be quire terrible under certain conditions, like doing anything that's tasking the GPU with even something as "simple" as YouTube playback, and gaming is out of the question.

They're generally fine for most office uses, but gaming is not going to be a fun experience and if you have no dedicated GPU, even watching videos can lead to the display becoming a stuttering mess.

DisplayLink is useful, but it's not a replacement for a true display connection, like docks that connect over DisplayPort alt mode. But if your laptop doesn't have DP Alt Mode, this is the only way you're going to get a docking station, so it does have some uses.

Just a heads up, this is a displaylink dock.

Probably fine for most users and office use. Just be aware it will require additional drivers to output video to an external monitor, and you will not be able to drive dedicated GPU graphics to an external monitor with this dock if that is something you need.

For some reason the supplied USB-C cable would only charge my Android based Pixel phone. I even tried c->a>c as per https://support.displaylink.com/k...th-display . I ended up using a known working usb-c cable and it worked and charges as well. Oddly, I get prompted twice about sharing the video before it actually does so.

I just did an initial test and haven't used it for a while to give any impressions.
Turns out one of my two docks doesn't want to work properly with Android, but the other does... Exchanging it.

Interesting. Do they show as different versions/revisions on the dock label, or are they different part numbers? If the part numbers are the same and there's no revision/version info, how far apart do the serial numbers seem to be? Sounds like they changed something in the design/manufacturing along the way--or of course could just be defective.

The serial numbers were something like 10 apart. They took it under warranty. Waiting for replacement.

Thank you for the details! Definitely sounds like it was a defect and good to hear warranty replacement seems to be smooth. Smilie

Hello.

I lost my laptop sound when computer comes out from the sleep.

It seems like Targus docking station lost it.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks.

I see my laptop complain of low power charging. My laptop comes with 130W. This docking is 100W.

I think as long as battery is full, it it is not charging the battery and laptop at the same time.

I think this is OK right?

I get that notification on every port replicator I ever use when the power is coming through it. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the replicator causes it to be detected differently and suppresses the warning.

This will happen anytime a laptop detects a power adapter with less ampage. Like you mentioned, it's not really an issue when it isn't trying to charge and power the laptop at the same time, but could still drain the battery if the laptop uses the battery power in addition to keep it at the needed 130w.

I go to Settings - System - Power & Battery - View Detail Info

and my battery is at 100% last 7 days.

It is not good to keep battery top up like this FULL for its health.
