My wallet is thankful, I was about to challenge my impulse control!
No idea, their "used" models were a killer deal too. I bought my dream Les Paul for cheaper than I ever could have imagined.
I bought a "used" 2023 Les Paul Standard in Honey Amber for $1800 shipped. [creamcitymusic.com]
Site said it was a floor model, but it wasn't a floor model for very long. Came with still sealed case-candy, which the factory check-off sheet said was built on 10/27/23.
Guitar arrived perfectly in tune (debatable if that's a good thing or not), intonation is perfect, action is the right height, frets are polished, not a nick anywhere in the finish. Binding is perfectly scraped, no hint of amber tint bleed.
If I had to be picky, there was polishing compound build up behind the truss rod cover. But $1800 for an AA top Les Paul is a steal. I was actually looking for slightly mismatched figuring too, not a super uniform AAA top.
It only weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces too!! For a non-chambered model, that's like a unicorn!
I'm going to remove the pickup covers, maybe throw in Gotoh locking Kluson style tuners (SD510-SL-XN-MG), and if I'm feeling brave drop fill the pickguard screw hole and replace the ABR-1 threaded bushings with direct screwed in posts. Otherwise I'm happy with the guitar as is.
This is the first Gibson I have ever purchased with zero flaws. I like my other Gibsons, but so many small details are always screwed up, despite these being expensive guitars.
Even my used Gibsons had obvious signs of flaws or finish issues, as did my new ones. My brand new 2013 SG Standard had a terrible nut and bad intonation, my used 2004 ES-335 Dot has wood splinters inside the hollow parts and poorly scraped binding. My used Billie Joel Armstrong Les Paul Jr.'s neck side markers aren't anywhere near centered.
They're all beautiful guitars that sound great, but not flawless like a PRS, ESP, or high end Yamaha would be. My 80's Yamaha SG2000 puts every one of my Gibsons to shame, except this brand new 2023 Les Paul. I'm honestly in shock. The quality is just amazing, finally. Only took numerous bankruptcies...
