No way, I paid less than $800 for my S22 Ultra, I wouldn't pay $800 for S24 Ultra, it will be that price very soon. The original price of $1200+ is too high for S24U

That's a very good trade-in value from Samsung for a 6-year old phone (that they might be able to resell in bulk for $40)! Guess they really want to keep Note 8 users in the Sam fam.

Boasting here, but charter spectrum gave me $705 trade in for a note 3 with their promotion, I got the 512gb s24 ultra for 705 off plus the free size upgrade promo. If you have spectrum check that deal out. They'll take a lot of old and cheap phones and basically add $700 on top of the trade in worth. Example: note 3 trade in was $5 plus $700 trade in promo.

It's not that difficult. I currently have an s23 ultra unlocked The key word is unlocked phone. If you purchased your phone at Verizon it's not unlocked if you purchased your phone at T-Mobile it's not unlocked.
My S-23 is unlocked, which means that when I click on mobile hotspot I enter my SSID and password and then I can take my tablet and connect to my phone using its internet. I buy my phones unlocked I have to pay retail for them I don't get a discount but it used to allow me to get free access to my data plan on my phone. The new s24 unlocked no longer does this it treats your phone as if you bought it from Verizon or T-Mobile and locks that down unless you call Verizon or T-Mobile and ask them to charge you an extra $20 for this feature I'm not down with that so I return the s24 ultra because of this it was the straw that broke the camel's back. As I mentioned I have the s23 ultra and their identical almost except for a bunch of AI stuff that the s24 has that Google Pixel gave to them so without Google Pixel features this is exactly the same phone. You can trick yourself and lie to yourself and think that you're buying a totally different phone but they added some AI borrow from Google change the camera and that's it and you decided to give them $1,300 for that luxury Good luck

"Verizon T-Mobile AT&t charge you for this feature they can only do so when you buy the phones through them" - this statement is false (unless you use a hack to fool you carrier that hotspot data is not really hotspot data). Also if you purchase your phone at Verizon, its unlocked after 60 days.

Regardless if your phone is locked or unlocked, an s22 or an s23 or an s24 or a Pixel , if your plan does not allow tethering/hotspot , it wont work, unless you hack it of course. I have TMO sim that includes 10gb of hotspot and US Mobile eSim also includes 10gb of hotspot. I guarantee that when I get my unlocked S24, mobile hotspot will work for up to 10gb with each carrier, no different than it does with my current unlocked s22. I can't use more than 10gb per carrier per month despite my phone being unlocked. Now if I had a Verizon plan, Verizon would dictate whether or not I get hotspot on that plan - does not matter whether phone is locked or unlocked, does not matter phone model.

If there is a bug as user mentioned below, its applicable to Android 14 and is not specific to s24

Do you happen to be getting service from Verizon (either directly or through an MVNO)?

Many people on the network got an update on their Android phone that broke hotspot.

Just received the s24+ yesterday and it is the best android phone I've had so far. Screen, performance, batter life,camera, looks...the whole package is great. I also have a oneplus 11 and a Pixel 7 Pro. Did some performance test and the s24+ opens stuff a lot faster and is way smoother.
